Hitting a royal on Let It Ride11 April 2009
Actually this is a card game question. I love to play Let It Ride, even
though I have heard all the reasons not to play, house edge etc. I
normally bet $5-10 each hand plus bet the bonus.
I have two questions to ask. Assuming
I am
in Las Vegas at Harrah's, Bally's or MGM and I get lucky enough to hit a
Royal Flush with normal amount bet plus the bonus, 1st question: Is
this
taxable? 2nd question is do they give you all in cash or a check?
Thanks for your help...read moreFrank Scoblete Presents: When less is more, by Skinny10 April 2009 Frank Scoblete presents an article by Skinny.

Maybe things will perk up a bit as the World Series of Poker action gets near a start in May. For now, though, I'll concentrate on one new book, one classic and one too-often overlooked title, all of which should enhance a poker player's game. The first title is a fresh one...read moreDear slot director9 April 2009 I just realized something about myself. I am a dolt when it comes to slot machines. Yes, a complete and utter dolt. I have my fellow Strictly Slots columnist Frank Legato to thank for this revelation. He doesn't know that he is the one who has allowed me to realize something very important about the slot machines — or, rather, the buying and/or renting of slot machines by the casinos' slot directors...read moreRandom Thoughts about Playing Video Poker8 April 2009 Video poker is generally perceived as a "beatable" casino game over the long run if expert strategy is used playing an optimum pay table.
The very nature of the game makes this possible, given the fact cards are randomly dealt from a virtual deck...read moreA shuffle through the gaming mailbag7 April 2009 Q. I have a question about strategy that you didn't answer in your Deuces Wild columns. If I'm dealt four parts of a flush and four parts of a straight in the same hand, is it always better to go for the flush? With 4 of clubs, along with 5, 6, 7 and 10 of hearts, should I automatically hold the four hearts, or go with 4-5-6-7?

John,
I just got back from Harrah's Tunica. My wife and I have both been diamond players at Harrah's properties for at least 5 years. We both play video poker mixed in with some slots and I also play Texas Hold'em.
I was playing a $1 full-pay Jacks or Better machine and hit a royal flush...read moreDo other shooters resent your setting the dice?5 April 2009

Have you ever had trouble from other shooters at the table who don't try to control the dice, and resent you setting the dice prior to the throw?

Hello,
I desperately need your opinion on this situation.
First of all go to the website [Soaring Eagle casino in Michigan] and click on the winners tab and look for "Randy P" select each month to see the winners and you will notice that he wins on average $100,000.00 dollars or more a month!!!!!
So my question is "how is this possible"? Yes, he plays high-stakes slots usually $10 slots and $25 slots and his wife "Angie P" also wins a bunch!!
I have read that slots are a terrible gamble and will take all your money and for me I never win anything hardly at all and the same with all my friends who play $1, $5, and $10 dollar slots but "Randy P" and "Angie P" always WIN!! How can someone win $100.000.00 a month on slots!!!! when they are designed to take your money and how does the casino allow this..?? Please google Soaring eagle casino in mt...read moreInterpreting House Edge, Part I3 April 2009 In general terms the house edge is a statistic that tells you how much of the money that you wager is going to be retained by the casino.
