Top 10 casino openings and expansions for February 2024

12 February 2024

From the heart of Indiana to the bustling streets of Las Vegas to a picturesque island off the west coast of South Korea, the global gaming industry is filled with new properties, expansions, improvements and renovations. Today, we highlight 10 more developments across the planet since our last edition in December.

10. C Bar opens at Four Winds South Bend
In late December, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians opened the new C Bar at Four Winds South Bend in Indiana.

This is the second C Bar location for Four Winds, with the first location established at Four Winds New Buffalo in Michigan in 2016.

C Bar spans 4,730 total square feet with 3,099 square feet designated for 70 bar seats. The space can accommodate up to 233 guests and features 21 bar top games, a performance stage, a state of the art sound system, and two video walls that are over 25 feet wide.

9. Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas to debut Glass Bar
Spanning nearly 4,000 square feet, the cocktail lounge at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas will feature bar-top games for guests to enjoy while sipping on a cocktail or watching sports on one of the six television screens that wrap around the bar.

The new venue, set to open this winter, will offer personalized bottle service, craft cocktails, and premium spirits and beer.

The cocktail menu includes the Fruit & Pebble, made with Bacardi Superior rum, fruity pebble syrup, lime juice and fruity pebble dust as a garnish. Guests can also indulge in The Light Show, which features Ketel One Cucumber & Mint Vodka and Lagoon Bay Aperitif and is topped off with Fever Tree cucumber tonic water.

8. Delaware Park completes $10 million renovation
On 25 January, Delaware Park Casino & Racing announced the completion of its transformative $10 million renovation.

The main casino floor now features top-rated slot titles, new high limit table games, enhanced dining options, and a modern design.

In conjunction with the celebration, President & General Manager Terry Glebocki announced that, as of 25 January, it will keep its main slot floor open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

7. Rivers Philadelphia’s Riversuites officially opens
Rivers Casino Philadelphia welcomed Riversuites hotel back in December, where guests can enjoy suites — and only suites — that are apartment-style accommodations with one-, two- and three-bedroom options. Every suite has a fully equipped kitchenette, while several feature patios and bi-level lofts.

Many of the 62 suites offer stunning views of the Delaware River, and hotel guests will have immediate access to one of Philly’s hottest neighborhoods — Fishtown.

Riversuites’ spacious suites average 864 square feet, with the largest at over 2,200 square feet. In addition to private bedrooms with walk-in closets, each suite features a seating area with a convertible sofa bed for additional sleeping accommodations.

6. Beau Rivage ups ante with new poker room
In advance of its largest poker event of the year, the Beau Rivage Heater Poker Tournament in January, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino ups the ante again for poker players with the opening of a new poker room.

The new 12-table poker room at the Mississippi Gulf Coast resort offers guests a comfortable playing environment and includes a four-window cashier’s cage, forms display and a dozen 65-inch and larger HDTVs for keeping up with the latest sports action while not missing a hand.

The poker room is open to guests daily from 10 a.m. – 4 a.m. with daily tournaments and promotions.

5. New casino in Colorado opens doors
In the last week of December, Chamonix Casino Hotel, Colorado’s newest casino resort, opened its doors for the first time.

Chamonix features a casino floor with a variety of the newest slot machines, a high-limit slot salon, and a table games area. Many of Chamonix’s hotel guestrooms and suites offer balconies and views of Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak and the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

“Chamonix is a special place, unlike any other casino hotel in the state. It offers a high-end, Las Vegas experience in our beautiful Colorado mountain setting,” said Baxter Lee, General Manager of Chamonix Casino Hotel. “We are overjoyed to open Chamonix’s doors on December 27 and to welcome our friends from Colorado and beyond.”

4. Mohegan Pennsylvania completes $10 million hotel refresh
Last year, Mohegan Pennsylvania embarked on a $10 million refresh to its hotel with the aim of refreshing and updating all 238-rooms and suites. That goal has been achieved with the completion of the final stage of this major renovation known as “Project Starlight.”

The project on the Mohegan Pennsylvania Hotel included a complete renovation to all guests rooms. This meant that new bathrooms, more comfortable beds and upgraded work areas were key spots of improvement. Enhanced Wi-Fi and new smart TVs with bill review and check out accessibility are also now featured at the hotel. There are also 20 luxurious suites which offer more space and additional rooms.

3. Harrah’s Hoosier Park celebrates $40 million renovation
Caesars Entertainment announced the completion of the expansive new addition to Harrah's Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on 9 January. This development, encompassing over 30,000 additional square feet, introduces a blend of gaming and dining experiences to the property.

The $40 million project is the largest investment by Caesars Entertainment in Harrah’s Hoosier Park since its acquisition in 2018.

The Indiana casino floor has been completely reimagined, featuring more than 1,450 slot machines, 40 table games and a dedicated Promotions and Events Center specialized for drawings, giveaways and more. The property also boasts a High Limits Room, which has been expanded to include table games, a bar area, and restroom facilities.

The renovation extends beyond the gaming area. Guests will notice an aesthetic update, including new carpeting, lighting, and signage, culminating in a central medallion.

2. Ground breaking for Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Athens
Just prior to Christmas, Hard Rock International, GEK TERNA Group and the Athens community celebrated the groundbreaking of the luxury resort and casino in the heart of the Athens Rivera.

Expected to open in 2027, the €1.5 billion resort will combine a hotel, gaming floor, meeting and convention space, an entertainment venue, food and beverage options, a Rock Spa and Pool Complex, and a retail promenade.

The casino will be comprised of 180 tables and 1,500 gaming machines and a tower that consists of 1,100 guest rooms and 15 dining options. Additionally, the project includes a 3,000-seat Hard Rock Live theatre with standing room for 4,000 guests and the Rock Spa and Body Rock Fitness.
