Million Dollar Video Poker7 June 2003
The first Global Gaming Exposition, or G2E as it is called, was held in
late September 2001, a few days after the dastardly attacks in New York
and Washington. The keynote speaker was Whoopie Goldberg. I imagine that
other attendees, like myself, were curious as to how this funny woman
would approach that task given that the country was in such a state of
shock and sadness...read moreScobe's Quick Tip: #32 (Casinos Rely on Math)6 June 2003
Scobe's Quick Tip #32
Casinos rely on math to give them the edge at their games.
The casinos do not rely on luck.
Unfortunately, too many players rely solely on luck and don't know the
mathematical underpinnings of the games they play...read moreAsk The Slot Expert5 June 2003
John:
I will be coming to Vegas on June 1st for four nights. I will be
staying at Treasure Island.
Where would you suggest is the best casino to play the slots, or maybe
the 5 best places to play? I have had better luck in North Las Vegas
and the Excalibur than any other places on my previous 7 or 8 trips.
Which casinos have the best slot clubs? Which casinos have the best
video poker?
Thanks,Raymmond
Dear Raymond,
It's difficult to say which casino is best in which to play the slots or
in which to stay without knowing more about what you're looking for.
For example, Treasure Island has a great location, reasonable rates, and
is kept immaculately clean...read moreInternet Book By Krieger, Watterson and Pointspread Playbook Hot Items at GBC4 June 2003 Lou Krieger and Kathleen Keller Watterson have given an innovative form of gambling a major boost, with their vital, incisive, Internet Poker (How to Play and Beat Online Poker Games), (200 pages, paperbound, $14.95), and Al O'Donnell has made it ahead of the tidal wave of new football betting books, with his timely Point Spread Playbook (100 pages, paperbound, $19.95)...read moreWinds of Change in Chicago-Area Gaming4 June 2003

They want chips all over the layout as soon as a shooter establishes a
point, for fear of missing the start of a hot roll. Their daughter was
born at 5:55 on 5/5/55 so five is their lucky number...read morePlay Four Eases Woes of Almost Hands2 June 2003
In any stud poker-based casino game, the "almosts" will drive you crazy.
Hands that are almost a flush or almost a straight will have you
forfeiting antes on Caribbean Stud and depleting your bankroll with
final-bet losses in Let It Ride.
That's something Larry Kekempanos and Jim Kenny had in mind when they
devised Play Four Poker, which made its debut with a single table at
Jack Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.
Kekampos, of Kings Gaming, Inc., in Oak Lawn, and Kenny, a pit manager
at Horseshoe, have moved to ease the woes of "almost" by dealing
five-card hands, but designating one as a discard...read moreYou Can Bet On It!1 June 2003
As long as humans roam the Earth there will always be two kinds of people. Those
that take advantage of others, and suckers that allow themselves to be taken advantage
of.
The ones' that take advantage are always looking for an edge and pouncing unmercifully

month of May the federal government and a portion of the Meskwaki tribe have
debated the rules of government. The Meskwaki tribe, officially known as the
Sac and Fox Tribe of Mississippi in Iowa, is the only federally recognized Indian
tribe in Iowa; there are 1,293 enrolled members. In March after the tribal
council failed to acknowledge a recall petition, the traditional tribal leader
appointed a new council. The newly appointed council took possession of tribal
headquarters and the casino operation.
The casino issue is simple: who has a right to operate an Indian
casino? The easy answer is a federally recognized tribe with a tribal/state
gaming compact. So what happens if another government replaces the elected
government with a separate claim to rule? The National Indian Gaming Commission
says the casino has to close, or can only be operated by the duly elected tribal
government. That is where it stands; the casino is closed, as the case begins
to meander through the federal courts.
Under a judge's order, U.S...read more |
