A bad roulette system4 August 2009 E-mail spam is always full of bad ideas on how to get rich quick, whether it's the overseas lottery you never entered, the attorney or bank looking for the next of kin of a deceased foreign national or the desperate but wealthy individual trying to move funds from his own country...read moreWhich game should I play?3 August 2009
Hi John,
I always look forward to your columns.
In your opinion, is an average video poker player better off choosing a game with a higher percentage long-term payback or settling for one with a lower percentage with a game that the player is more familiar with?
I looked at a couple of sites that recommended certain machines at different Vegas casinos, some Double Bonus Poker and some Jacks or Better and some Deuces Wild Bonus Poker...read moreShould I use the 5-Count on myself?2 August 2009
Frank,
I recently started using the 5-Count against other shooters. My question is: Do I use it when I'm shooting? I do understand that I need to place a pass line bet, but other than that, would you recommend using the 5-Count on myself? I am not a random roller, I consider myself a great roller, and I do practice about 10 hours a week tossing the dice.
Thank you,

Hi Stickman,
I just read your article about Dice Pilot's system.
Why should his first bet be so large compared to what his normal bets are? Risking $6,400 then going down to $110 doesn't make sense to me.
What is your opinion?
Thank you,Joyce

The casino wins about 1.4%, give or take, against both types of bettors.
The darkside (don't) players get hammered on the very first placement of their don't pass or don't come bet when they lose on the 7 and 11 (eight ways to hit the deck) and only win on the 2 and 3 (three ways to come out ahead)...read moreBarrier Between Pro Sports and Gaming Develops Cracks29 July 2009 The professional sports world has always kept a safe distance from any connection with gambling, but there are signs that the barrier is beginning to weaken under the pressure of the sagging economy.
Last month, National Football League owners voted to permit teams to sign licensing agreements with state-sponsored lotteries.
Franchises in other pro sports leagues, including MLB, NBA and NHL, have done similar agreements with lotteries, but this is ground breaking for the NFL.
The New England Patriots jumped on the bandwagon the day after it was signed, inking a deal with the Massachusetts State Lottery for a Patriots-themed instant ticket.

Hi John,
Love your articles.
My question is: On a bank of progressive slots, what determines which machine will hit for the jackpot? Is it total spins on that particular machine, total spins for the entire bank, or amount of money played on the machine that finally hits?
Thanks, Tony
