The 12 superstitions about craps: #5 - Never EVER say seven!2 January 2012
The 12 most popular superstitions at the game of craps are adhered to or believed by most craps players -- so if you want to play the game and not be thought a craps barbarian, you should know them. Keep in mind that individuals add their own superstitions too so you might hear someone yelling some incoherent thing at the table which to him will ward off the coming of the ominous 7 or bring it on if he is a Darkside player. Never mention the number 7 when a shooter is shooting. Obviously, this concept has no real effect except that players fear the very word "seven" while the game is in progress. They will cringe of you mention the word. Indeed some players will say the word "word" when talking about the dreaded seven. Some players also call the 7 "it"; some players call the 7 "the devil"; some call the 7 "Satan's ass." There are many more. Take your pick because the 7 is that "evil number." Again, not saying "seven" is considered proper manners at the craps table. Some darkside don't players love to shout out the word "seven" while the shooter is throwing. These darksiders evidently do not fear their imminent death when they do this. This article is provided by the Frank Scoblete Network. Melissa A. Kaplan is the network's managing editor.
