Johnny Chan killing the WSOP Main Event

LAS VEGAS -- Two-time Main Event champion Johnny Chan turned back the clock Monday and reminded the 2010 WSOP field why he's one of the greatest players of all time. With an iPod Shuffle on the table, yellow headphones in his ears and black sunglasses guarding his eyes, the "Orient Express" steamrolled his table in the Blue section of the Amazon Room and more than doubled his chip stack from 281,600 to 636,000. Ex-Alliance Gaming boss joins small slot maker

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Former Alliance Gaming chief executive Bob Miodunski has ended a six-year hiatus from the gaming industry. American Gaming Systems (AGS), a small slot machine manufacturer that provides games to American Indian casinos, named Miodunski as its chairman and interim president and chief executive officer. The company, which has offices in several jurisdictions including Nevada, is owned by San Francisco-based Alpine Investors, which has stated intentions to grow AGS's presence in the gaming equipment market. "Alpine has decided to put strong financial backing behind and specific emphasis on its investment in AGS and Bob Miodunski delivers the credibility, the leadership and the motivation we need to take AGS to another level." said Graham Weaver, president of Alpine Investors. Miodunski retired as CEO of Alliance Gaming (now Bally Technologies) in September 2004 after a five-year run. During his tenure, Alliance's Bally Gaming and Systems business unit grew and acquired several technology components. Las Vegas visitation up 2 percent in May

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Visitation to Las Vegas grew 2 percent in May, the ninth straight monthly increase. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said 3,262,831 tourists came to town during the month, compared with 3,199,719 in May 2009. Visitation is up 1.5 percent through May, with 15.4 million tourists coming to Las Vegas, compared to almost 15.2 million for the same period last year.
