Top 10 casino openings, expansions and closings for October 2024

21 October 2024

The adage "there's always room for improvement" rings especially true for casino-resorts.

In the competitive hospitality industry, casino properties must constantly evolve to entice new guests and retain loyal patrons. Whether it's introducing a cutting-edge restaurant, unveiling a luxurious hotel tower, or expanding the casino floor, these resorts are always seeking innovative ways to elevate the guest experience and outpace the competition.

Today, we look at openings, expansions and even a couple of historic closings that have been announced since our last edition.

10. Mohegan Sun welcomes new restaurant
The Shed Restaurant officially opened on Wednesday, 9 October in Mohegan Sun's Casino of the Earth, across from Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana.

Chef Roberto Baez’s menu at the Connecticut resort offers a take on American comfort food and features a list of specialty brunch, lunch and dinner menu items with the full menu available all day.

Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available, and many menu items can be customized to be a vegan dish, making The Shed Restaurant the only restaurant at the property to offer vegan dining.

9. Chef Gordon Ramsay brings first restaurant to Virginia
Multi-Michelin-starred chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay is set to open his first Virginia restaurant with the arrival of Ramsay’s Kitchen at Caesars Virginia later this year.

Starters include Virginia Oysters, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Sticky Chicken Wings. The 47,000-square-foot TAO Beach venue will feature a skating rink totaling 3,250 square feet covering the venue’s two pools. Roller skating will take place Thursday through Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Guests may bring their own skates or rent them at the venue.
