My Helicopter (Shot) Crashes!26 April 2004 For the past two years and a half I have been fascinated with the idea of beating the craps "tubs" for some decent money. For those who have never heard of or seen a tub, it's a small table, maybe the size of two blackjack tables, sunken just like a regular craps table, where about eight players sit around (you aren't allowed to stand at it) and there's a mini-layout, one dealer for the whole table...read moreAt the movies, maybe, but it's still illegal26 April 2004 Dear Mark,
At our newly formed Thursday night poker club, I was informed that I couldn't
call a bet, and then raise. I used these words; "I'll call your $20,
and raise you another $20." Someone objected and said that I couldn't
do that...read moreWhy Players Seem to Do Worse at Games that Should be Better26 April 2004 Blackjack and craps are casino games which let players make wagers having extremely
low house advantage. With Basic Strategy, blackjack buffs can cut the edge to
roughly half a percent depending on the rules in force. Betting Pass and Come
or Don't Pass and Don't Come, then taking or laying Odds, craps fans can trim
the edge below this level...read moreDo Choices Matter on the Slots in the State of Washington?25 April 2004
In a recent reply you stated "According to the slot manufacturers, your
choices do matter in these types of bonus rounds. The program running the
machine uses the RNG to determine how much the different regions (or
whatever) are worth...read moreThe Odds Aren't Always What They Seem24 April 2004 Most serious gamblers are rather proud of their understanding of the odds and how they work. Still, it's easy to misjudge their true properties and get those odds all messed up. That's why so many ardent gamblers repeatedly reason against the odds...read moreHeard it on the River23 April 2004 GOV. HALEY BARBOUR is known, we have heard, to have three positions on the state's
gaming…no gaming expansion beyond the present counties, no lottery and no
raising of gaming taxes. Sounds good to me and I think the industry will take
comfort on those issues...read moreWhat the Heck is a Razgu?22 April 2004 What the heck is a 'Razgu'? Is it a good hand? Is it a bad hand? Is it the name
of a baseball team?
The term Razgu was coined by one of my Dad's Poker playing friends to refer
to a really bad hand. Most often, it means a Video Poker hand, which is so bad,
that there is nothing worth keeping...read morePlaying the $100 Slots22 April 2004
Hi, John,
I have played the slots at Lincoln Park, Lincoln, Rhode Island,
hundreds of times over the years and have come to the
conclusion that even though a state-operated casino
can not change the payout percentage without changing
the program chip, something else is being changed to
alter the hit frequency as the slots are networked
together.
I have played banks of the same type of machine,
(i.e., Winning Bid, Money to Burn, Leopard
Spots, etc.) and each one behaved exactly like the
other...read moreAsk Frank: Can a Slot Hit Like Clockwork?22 April 2004
Dear Frank,
I have a friend that plays a particular slot machine. The funny thing is
that
every Monday and Wednesday at 12:30 am the machine pays off. I told her
that it is coincidence until they showed me they notes. For the last 6
months this machine has hit every time.
What do you think?
Chuck
Dear Chuck,
I have no idea...read moreNCAA's Anti-Legal Sports Betting Campaign is Fronted by Inspector Clouseau Impersonator21 April 2004 The bumbling, stumbling, addle-pated inspector who tries so hard but can't get out of his own way has been reincarnated. Bill Saum, a nonsequitur-spouting dim bulb NCAA executive, is giving a world class performance that replicates Clouseau's buffoonery to a T.
His pretentious title, NCAA director of agent, gambling and amateurism activities, pretty much reflects the substance of the person...read more |
