Ask the Slot Expert: Are slot machines random?30 June 2012
Hi John:
I love your column! You've been so informative for my slot gaming and I appreciate all the advice you've given along with in-depth explanations and information.

Dear Frank,
I am learning to be an advantage player. Often, it is hard to get a seat at a table and the casino I frequent allows mid-shoe entry. My question is about coming into a game mid-shoe, count unknown. Should I just play the shoe out using basic strategy or should I begin the count from that point and play on regardless of the "history" of the cards already dealt?

It was a low entry fee with just one round of play, and the prize was based on the number of entrants. But then they said I had to sign a tax form before they could pay me.
I'd won slot jackpots before, and I thought they didn't have the tax form unless they were over $1,200...read moreAsk the Slot Expert: How do slot machines detect a new player?27 June 2012
I have been playing heavily for the past 4 years and I have noticed that virtually all of my "big" wins ($500+) happen within the first few spins.
I have not been able to "force" a machine to win by playing long periods at the same machine...read moreSplitting 8s in blackjack26 June 2012 It was just past 9 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, one of my favorite times to play. Crowds were small, tables were wide open, and I settled in for a little $10-a-hand blackjack.
It was a six-deck game, with the dealer standing on all 17s and doubling down after splitting pairs permitted...read moreFinding your Valentine's Day machine25 June 2012 My wife, the beautiful A.P., and I were married on Valentine's Day. She thought it was romantic; I thought it would be an easy date to remember. We were both quite happy with February 14; one of us for romance, one of us for practicality. We are Valentine's Day lovers.
In truth, slot players are looking for their Valentine's Day machines -- what I call their "love machines."
So what are such love machines? To discover what a "love machine" consists of, we must look at what true love consists of...read moreArticles by Vera Sanchez
Ladies and Gentleman, Here They Are: The Beatles!24 June 2012 The music world was forever changed on February 9th, 1964, the day the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. The young lads from Liverpool, England, rocked the house, performing early classics such as "I Saw Her Standing There," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "All My Loving," and "She Loves You." Anyone who was alive during this time knew exactly what they were doing and where they were at on that day.
Unfortunately, for me, I was conceived 16 years, one day late from the event, never witnessing the true birth of Beatlemania...read moreFrank Scoblete critiques a reader's craps strategy23 June 2012
Hi, Frank,
