Heard it on the River26 June 2003
Gripes, gripes, gripes...you hear so many players griping (is it because
they are losing?) that you wonder how casino employees can stand it. We
decided to level the playing field and asked some table games dealers
what their gripes were about players...that's fair turnabout...read moreAntigua Moves Forward with WTO Claim vs. US25 June 2003 On Tuesday the Caribbean nation of Antigua presented an argument to the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement body, asking that the WTO set up an arbitration panel to settle a conflict with the United States. Dear Mark,A few questions if I may
regarding progressive, networked slot machines. If player A is playing
in one location, and player B in another, are the odds of hitting a
jackpot the same? Does one machine know what the other machine is paying?
Now the $64 (obviously
much more on a progressive machine) question: What would happen if two
players hit a progressive, network slot machine before it was reset?
Amber D.
Well, Amber, so long as Players A and B
are playing for the same single jackpot, both machines must have the
same chance of coughing up that jackpot...read moreNew Account Wagering Measure Could Boost Nevada's Race Betting Industry18 June 2003 On June 9 Nevada's state legislature passed a bill that would permit off-site pari-mutuel wagering on horse races.
SB3, drafted by state Sen. Dean Rhoades, became law June 11, but won't take effect until new regulations are drawn up. That should take about six months.
The change could repair Nevada's lagging horse wagering industry, which was once the largest among all U.S...read moreCode red on these two blood-donor bets16 June 2003
Dear Mark,
On a craps table, there are spaces with a "C" or "E" in a circle. I
know that the "C" is for craps and the "E" is for eleven. Does betting
on these circles differ from the regular "any craps" bet? Jim E.
Somewhat, Jim, tag along.
With any craps (2, 3 or 12), you are betting that the next roll will be
a 2, 3, or 12...read moreNew Features for SportsXction13 June 2003 As England and the Zimbabwe national team squared off on the second day of a five-day cricket test match last Friday, Interactive Systems Worldwide (ISW) launched a new addition to its SportXction betting system.
Company chairman Barry Mindes says its new release for test cricket was hugely popular and yielded more users and bets than any other previous sporting event for SportsXction.

RNG (random number generator). I am very familiar with how it works. I
know those people that say, "I JUST got up from that machine, and that
lady sat down, and BAAM! She hits the jackpot! I could have won that if I
stayed a bit longer!" I know this is a totally false statement (well, not
totally as it COULD have randomly happened to him had he been there) but
the fact that the one lady hit it and he didn't is because the RNG came up
with the winning jackpot combo at that precise moment in time.
The thing that I was always confused about is WHEN the RNG stops and
displays the predetermined outcome...read moreComing of Age6 June 2003 BskyB's Sky Digital television network has had interactive capabilities since its release in 1998, but until the recent launch of Sky Bet Vegas, no I-gaming services had been available.
