Wynn Dealers' Complaints Rejected

NEVADA -- Nevada's labor commissioner Wednesday rejected complaints filed by more than 100 dealers over Wynn Las Vegas' new tip pooling policy, saying the program where tips are now shared between dealers and supervisors is legal. "Based on what we've seen, Wynn Resorts is not violating state law regarding tip pooling," Labor Commissioner Michael Tanchek said. Gaming Industry: Casinos Back to Winning Ways

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- After statewide gaming revenue decreased in June, the first time in more than two years that Nevada casinos had a down month, analysts were braced for a similar result when July's numbers were released Tuesday. The bad news, however, never materialized. Fueled by the Strip's megaresorts and a booming business at casinos catering to locals, the overall state gaming win was $1.04 billion in July, a jump of 8.4 percent from $958.5 million in July 2005, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Fortunet Gets Preliminary Approval

LAS VEGAS -- For the second straight quarter the cost of acquiring an Australian slot maker sent gaming equipment provider Shuffle Master to a quarterly loss, even though the Las Vegas-based company's revenues grew almost 50 percent. "We posted solid operating results and we've made tremendous progress in creating a formidable global gaming equipment supplier," Shuffle Master Chairman Mark Yoseloff said Thursday during the company's conference call to announce third-quarter earnings for the period that ended July 31. Peter Dicks, non-executive chairman of London Stock Exchange-listed online gambling company Sportingbet Plc, was arrested late Wednesday night upon entering Kennedy International Airport.
