Chrysler's ex-boss in casino bid

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A small casino company with former auto industry icon Lee Iacocca as one of its primary investors will take its first steps toward obtaining a Nevada gaming license next week. Full House Resorts, which is headquartered in Las Vegas, is asking Nevada gaming regulators to approve its $25.5 million purchase of Stockman's Casino and Holiday Inn Express in the Northern Nevada community of Fallon. LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A move by billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian to significantly increase his majority ownership in MGM Mirage fell short of its goal Friday. Casino Stocks: Pinnacle plans offering of 10 million shares

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment said Friday it wants to help finance several of its casino development projects through a stock offering of 10 million shares. The company registered with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to sell the shares. Pinnacle expects to have 58.2 million common shares outstanding after the offer is completed. The company's stock price fell on the news that additional shares would soon be on the market, but one gaming analyst said that action should translate into opportunity for stock speculators. "We advise investors to use weakness today as an opportunity to enter into a position on a quality gaming company with one of the higher growth profiles in the industry," Morgan Joseph gaming analyst Adam Steinberg said in a note Friday. Dispute won't disrupt meeting

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- A day after Gov. Jim Gibbons substituted his predecessor's choice for a seat on the Gaming Control Board with a selection of his own, the chairman of the regulatory panel said Friday he was making plans for neither appointee to participate in next week's monthly meeting. Gaming Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander said that if the situation isn't cleared up by Monday as to which appointee is entitled to the seat on the three-member panel that pays $125,112 annually, he would ask both choices to stay away from the Wednesday and Thursday hearing in Las Vegas.
