Nevada economy: Gaming revenues tumble again12 June 2008
LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The slumping national economy has affected the bottom line of Nevada casinos much like what happened in the wake of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
For the fourth straight month and the fifth month out of the last six, gaming revenues decreased as gamblers cut their discretionary spending.
The gaming win in April was just above $1 billion statewide, a 5.05 percent decrease compared with $1.053 billion won from gamblers in April 2007, according to figures released Wednesday by the Gaming Control Board.
The total gaming win signified the third-largest single-month decline in statewide gaming revenues in five years...read moreAround the WSOP: From the Park Dept. to Poker Champ11 June 2008 It's not that Jason Young didn't have to work hard for his victory in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout that finally came to a climatic finish in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Heck, you could even call what he went through downright draining if you consider the 29-hour tournament will go down as one of the longest two-day events in WSOP history...read moreCyprus and Monaco adventures: Part 211 June 2008

But after seeing the pros capture nine of the first 10 bracelets that were up for grabs, the amateurs made a bit of a comeback over the weekend.
Phillip Tom is one of three amateurs to win a WSOP bracelet this year...read moreArticles by Howard Stutz

LAS VEGAS, Nevada –- For several days last month, investors thought billionaire takeover artist Carl Icahn was making a run at Boyd Gaming Corp.
