Casino City's Top 10 most-read Top 10s of 2017

1 January 2018

Around this time last year, we took a look at some of our most-read stories from the previous 12 months. Today, we're doing the same for 2017, looking fondly on our most popular pieces and bringing them back to the fore. As with the previous year, betting tips remained popular, as did lists of top 10 casinos. (You all sure love slots!) There was also some concern with etiquette, particularly with regard to sportsbooks and blackjack, so, if nothing else, we can all go into the new year as more polite players.

10. Top 10 betting facts and figures for the 2017 Kentucky Derby - 1 May 2017
The Kentucky Derby is held in the same esteem as March Madness and the Super Bowl: It's not to be missed. 9. Top 10 highest house edge casino bets - 9 January 2017
In this article, Gary Trask smartly notes that, while players of all games are at a mathematical disadvantage, some games will drain your bankroll faster than others. It may be wise to take a look at this list before you play, as some options have a punishing house edge of over 30%. The house edge is an unfortunate fact of life, but it's one that can be managed with a little budgeting and research before hitting the tables.

8. Top 10 most bananas stories from Trump's time as a casino boss - 20 February 2017
It's probably not a surprise to anyone that a top 10 about Trump would rank on this list, considering how much news he's generated in the past year. But this is also a great article, chock-full of mafia shenanigans, misguided outbursts and just generally terrible business practices. Like, really terrible.

If you feel the need to alternately laugh and cry out in disbelief, this is the read for you.

7. Top 10 random thoughts and observations from the casino gaming industry - 30 June 2017
This mid-year roundup provides a good snapshot of what was going on in the casino industry at the time of writing. Things change lightning-quick, but a few items remain relevant as ever, namely the rising popularity of esports. For a few other items, such as the Wynn's sportsbook expansion and positive news for sports betting, we can happily say that things have turned out pretty well.

6. Top 10 casinos by number of slots - 15 August 2016
Featured on this list are casinos containing upwards of 4,000 slot machines. The No. 1 item, WinStar World Casino and Resort, had 7,471 slot machines at the time of writing, so those of you who are experiencing what can only be recognized as slotmania can head on over to Oklahoma. (Though an abundance of slots is what brings readers to this article, it's also worth mentioning that many of these destinations have an abundance of entertainment and dining options, as well. Make a vacation out of it!)

This was also a popular question last year: Where can I go in Las Vegas and get absolutely lost in a sea of flashing lights and sound? Most of the casinos listed have at least 2,000 slot machines available, with the highest nearing 3,000. So get lost, my friends, and hope Lady Luck comes your way.
