UFOs and Casino Playing

CINDY: Okay, I know what you’ve been doing my dear sister.

ABBY: And what is that?

CINDY: You’ve been looking into the UFO world. As in unidentified flying objects.

ABBY: Now also called UAP as in unidentified aerial phenomenon.

CINDY: This ought to be a hoot. How has that subject got to do anything with casino playing?

ABBY: It has to do with believing or disbelieving what self-proclaimed so-called eye witnesses tell you about what they witnessed. Do you believe them or do you think they are lying or uninformed about what was actually going on in the skies or fields where they say they saw these strange objects.

CINDY: In casino playing? Relationship?

ABBY: If you travel the seemingly countless gambling sites on the Internet you can see witnesses who claim many things about how they play and the results of how they play. Now how they play is easy to answer as to the veracity of the witness. Most casino players, excellent ones, good ones, stupid ones all have methods of betting their money that they believe in.

CINDY: And the players who follow the math and probabilities have the best chances to win.

ABBY: But no matter what, almost all methods of play must relinquish their wins to the fact that the casinos’ house edge will beat them in the end – or the beginning or the middle, you know what I mean. But what about the players who actually think that their wrong playing methods actually work for some reason? How can they possibly think that? You see this especially on sites where players can give their opinions and strategies. Idiocy reigns.

CINDY: And UFOs? What of those?

ABBY: Thousands of people have seen UFOs or claim to have seen them. Most of these sightings are one or a few people looking up into the sky and seeing something they don’t recognize and they give a name such as “flying saucer” or something like that. Some people will report this to police and government agencies or to groups that actually study UFOs.

CINDY: But are they telling the truth? That’s number one, right? Is their theory of what they saw actually accurate? Have they come up with what we would consider in casino playing an excellent strategy for what is going on?

ABBY: Perfectly said. I am thinking from what I’ve read that some of the eye-witnesses are just lying or were drunk or high and if they are telling what they saw that “what they saw” was the inside of their own brain as in a fantasy.

CINDY: But are there people who have solid backing for what they saw? Or at least close to it?

ABBY: Some, yes. Pilots, police, military people. Groups of people; groups of little kids. Sometimes physical evidence is seen on the landscape.

CINDY: And you think they saw what they said they saw?

ABBY: To a degree. UFOs could be “flying saucers” – maybe crafts or visions from other worlds or from this world too. I have no idea what it is that they actually experienced. But I think they are telling the truth of what they think happened. The ability to name what they saw is what throws them. They don’t really know what they saw, even if they saw what they think of as living beings. Players who say that they knew they would win tonight and they win – have they actually been psychic?

CINDY: Look a lot of players think they are going to win and they do win but a lot more, far, far more players do not win even though they thought they would win. They are the overwhelming majority of players. And players can have good sessions playing stupidly and they think that their stupid play is the key to winning.

ABBY: They will create theories of their methods and actually believe those theories. I think that is the same with UFOs.

CINDY: And what conclusion have you come to about all this stuff?

ABBY: That most people are wrong about most things. Huge numbers of people believe in this or that candidate for office or this dictator or belief system and they are just plain wrong. You can’t convince them by telling them they are wrong. Most people will live with false beliefs for their entire lives.

CINDY: That’s like knowing how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

ABBY: Correct. And that, simply, is what I learned.
