Save Your Money!

19 May 2024

CINDY: The title of this article is deliberately misleading. Many players will read it and figure we are telling them to stop playing and save their money.

ABBY: It’s just the opposite! We are going to tell you what we have done to save some money for casino playing.

CINDY: Correct. Going to the casino with money you just took out of the bank, money you use for other things like your mortgage or rent or groceries or car payments or your children’s education all the way up through college. That’s the “quality” money; money much needed to get on with your life and perhaps the lives of your loved ones. That money is never…

ABBY: Never!

CINDY: …to be used for anything other than for the quality things and people in your lives.

ABBY: Here “quality” means important, vital, and not to be played around with.

CINDY: Playing in a casino should be, must be, simply a leisure time activity. Period. Do not ever get into the gambling mindset where you are always thinking of pursuing Lady Luck’s largesse. Your life is not about wagering. It is about fun outside the quality things.

ABBY: So, how do you get your playing money? Author Frank Scoblete, who writes for this website, recommends starting what he calls the “401G” with that “G” standing for gambling.

CINDY: You make this account a bank account to be put into a bank that gives you interest for the money being saved. You will put small amounts into this account on a regular basis, maybe monthly or bi-weekly or weekly. You make it the same amount and what do you do then?

ABBY: You watch it grow! This will be the money you use in order to gamble. It can be casino gambling or sports betting but always you do not bet more than is in that account.

CINDY: Of course, you never bet so much that this account gets whittled down to almost nothing. If you win in the casino then that win is immediately put into the account. And you keep making those deposits regularly. Yes, maybe, at a certain point you might have enough in that account that you can put in less money or you can up – a little – your betting levels but in all of this you must be ultra-careful.

ABBY: Played properly you will never have to worry about casino-playing money, ever, because you are regularly protecting yourselves. Your withdrawals must be small in relation to the total amount you have in your “401G” account.

CINDY: You must also protect yourself when you play. Do not over bet your bankroll. You must have enough saved so that you never worry about money. That is a key ingredient in all of this. Your playing money is kind of sacred. It is not needed for your quality items. It is just for playing.

ABBY: And please make sure you play properly. Don’t be an action player who just throws money around as if it isn’t money. Your “401G” is real money too. Learn the best strategies. If you are going to the casino you need money and a head on your shoulders that knows how to bet properly, no matter what game or games you choose to play.
