Oscar's Grind

24 August 2023

CINDY: Here is a betting sequence that most casino players don’t know about – at least the ones I have talked to. It is best when played on the even-money bets or close to even-money, such as mini-baccarat, roulette, Pai Gow Poker and other games such as these.

ABBY: Oscar’s Grind sounds as if the player will now grind down the casino when he or she plays the games. Can Oscar’s Grind allow us to do what the casinos do to so many players? That is, grind them down? Can we very sad and lonely players finally get a system that guarantees a win over the house?

The fact is that no betting system can beat the casino. Yes, some options, such as card counting or dice influencing, might be able to give some very few (as in very, very few!) players an edge. Technically, I don’t count these as betting systems per se.

CINDY: Oscar’s grind has simple premise; as soon as you are 1 unit ahead, you go back to your minimum bet. This is what that means: You aren’t looking to kill the house. You are just looking to grind out some wins, even small wins.

ABBY: There are four levels of wagers. This is another positive system attempting to gain you access to some wins, even small wins. You use four types of wagers (1, 2, 3 and 4); it is therefore only a four-level system. You only move up the levels on a win. The idea is to win just one unit before starting another sequence at one unit.

Let us use $10 as our minimum bet and have this sequence: S10 units, $20 units, $30 units, and $40 units.

Level One, keep betting $10 units until a win occurs:

Bet $10 units, lose, down $10 units
Bet $10 units, lose, down $20 units
Bet $10 units, lose, down $30 units
Bet $10 units, win, down $20 units

Level two, time to increase the bet on a win:

Bet $20 units, lose, down $40 units
Bet $20 units, lose, down $60 units
Bet $20 units, win, down $40 units

Level three, because of your win the time to increase your bet on a win bas come again:

Bet $30 units, win, down $10 units

Level four, time to increase bet on a win:

Bet $20 units, win, and player is now ahead $10 units and goes back down to a $10 betting unit and can start Oscar’s Grind all over again if the player wishes. We aren’t looking for a devastating win as you can plainly see.

CINDY: Now, should you keep playing? Heck, you are ahead now, is it time to quit, go to the airport and take a flight home?

Most players, especially those who are just starting out their session, would continue to play. That means you start a new grinding attempt beginning with the original level one. You just follow Oscar’s Grind as you did with the first one.

ABBY: Okay, let me throw the wrench into this betting system – and I am sure most of you have seen it already. You are not assured enough wins to make back your losses; you can get hammered if you just can’t win enough to make it into positive territory. Yes, you can go on really bad streaks where you hit the brick wall and really can’t bring yourself to wager any more money.

CINDY: Oscar’s Grind can be a good method as long as you don’t go overboard, which is always a possibility if you are getting hammered.

ABBY: Correct.
