Casinos During Holidays

30 November 2023

CINDY: I like to spend time in the casinos during holiday seasons, Christmas, New Years, and the like. The casinos in every way are retreats from the real world of work and obligations. That is the casinos normal day or weekend. All that with great shows and great decorations, you escape in the casinos on any day or night. But during the holidays it is even more of an escape; a real pleasure. For the holidays I actually like to get away and spend a few days at the casinos usually in other states.

ABBIE: I enjoy the casino holiday spirit too. New great decorations on top of the normal decorations; come on! That can’t be beaten. Heck even many Internet casinos go all out for the holidays.

CINDY: And I do like the fact that we are invited to some of the holiday parties and shows. Those are worthwhile comps for our play.

ABBIE: Do you remember the first time we went to Vegas for a Christmas vacation and the city was catering to a huge Asian population? Most of the signage of the big casinos was Chinese.

CINDY: Actually, that was a lot of fun!

ABBIE: Do you find the players are even more festive than usual?

CINDY: Mostly, yes. Atlantic City and the local casinos in states in the Midwest, West and South come in with good holiday embellishments. The ones we have visited even give the players a break on some of the games too. I remember one casino allowed “surrender” at roulette on the even-money bets of red/black, high/low and odd/even during what they called “Holiday Week Special!” At least I think it was called that.

ABBIE: Doesn’t matter, it was and is a great roulette option.

CINDY: Okay, who spends some of the holidays at the casinos? Of course, we have many times.

ABBIE: I think some people just want to take vacations when they are off. What better place to go?

CINDY: Teachers, maybe, can take off; and adult students. Law firms will sometimes send everyone off for a few days.

ABBIE: Some folks have enough money to go to the islands for some fun in the sun.

CINDY: I mean there are more holidays than just the religious ones. I mean the Superbowl is a big draw.

ABBIE: Oh, the drinks flow during that “holiday!”

CINDY: The casinos have become a giant entertainment factor in our world. The shows, the dining, the other aspects such as pools and gyms and, naturally, the games. I think some 60 to 70 million people go to casinos in the United States every year. That is a lot.

ABBIE: All the other countries too. The immense impact of this industry is something to be in awe of when you think of it.

CINDY: Holidays are special for people and I do think the casinos make an extra effort to make these special moments on their properties.

ABBIE: So maybe we buy two plane tickets and head to our favorite casino for this upcoming holiday. Yeah, what do you think?

CINDY: We certainly are sisters!
