Abby's 2024 Resolutions

28 January 2024

CINDY: It is your turn Abby. Reveal your secrets!

ABBY: I don’t have great secrets but I do need to tweak some weaknesses in my casino playing.

CINDY: Big tweaks or tiny tweaks?

ABBY: I’ll let the readers decide. I don’t think they are too big or anything.

CINDY: Is it like that guy you had to dump?

ABBY: Not that bad.

CINDY: Go at it.

ABBY: I have become an absolute believer in the Captain’s 5-Count. It doesn’t find a hot shooter but it does allow you to stay longer at the table and if a hot shooter should appear you will be on that shooter and have money behind you. But sometimes…sometimes…

CINDY: Go ahead. All of us are on your side.

ABBY: If I have been having a good session I might sometimes go right up on a shooter figuring I am hot and therefore I do not play the 5-Count. Most of the times this doesn’t work and I kick myself you-know-where for doing this. I have to realize that I have nothing to do with the dice falling my way or not when someone is shooting. That is really, really wrong thinking.

CINDY: Next?

ABBY: On rare occasions I bring more money to wager than I should. This hasn’t happened too often but when it does and I lose that money then I am depressed and angry with myself. I can’t believe how stupid I’ve been. I am doing exactly what I tell other casino players not to do.

CINDY: Sometimes the worst thing is not to follow your own advice.

ABBY: Tell me about it. I don’t overindulge in the slot machines. I play a little money in them but not too much. They are kind of a winddown from the table games. I am a loser at slots.

CINDY: Me too. I am guessing there aren’t many slot players who are winners except the players who hit the big ones. They are the luckiest slot players on earth if they can keep the money and not go crazy with spending it all or wasting it.

ABBY: I haven’t hit many big ones. I don’t think you have either.

CINDY: No, sir. Those big wins have eluded me. All the years we’ve played too. Although we have had some decent wins on slot machines. Still.

ABBY: Yes, still.

CINDY: Any more?

ABBY: Here is a big one I am embarrassed about. On the weekends, I expect to get the suites like we do during the week and I am disappointed if we only get a room.

CINDY: We basically only sleep in our rooms. I don’t find the room or the suite a big deal.

ABBY: I know, I know. Still, I guess I feel like a big shot or something when I open my door to a suite.

CINDY: Or “something,” yes I agree. Feeling as if you are “something” is a bad mindset.

ABBY: You don’t have to make fun of me. I can do that for myself. Yes, in fact, it is a very bad mindset. I will work on that this year. When I am fast asleep, my mind isn’t thinking “oh, wow, I am fast asleep in a suite.”

CINDY: What about the other table games? Any resolutions about them?

ABBY: No. I play the right strategies and my money management is good. I am good to go at those games.

CINDY: May you have a good 2024.

ABBY: You too!
