Football: October 20021 October 2002
Football season is here and thus far there have been a bunch of surprises coming
out of the gate. In the early part of the season the St. Louis Rams have all but
eliminated themselves from the playoffs. The Rams were the favorite to win it
all this year and the collapse of this dynasty that never was has put more than
a few believers in shock. ... (read more)

Finally, the football season is underway! For most sports bettors there are two
parts to the year, betting on football and the other six months. There are many

Football season is just around the corner and the Las Vegas sportsbooks are gearing
up for action. There will be plenty of opportunities to wager before the season

Bet with your Head1 March 2002
There is an old gambling quote that many people have claimed to be theirs. I'm
not sure who said it first. The quote is, "Bet with your head, not over it".
Sure sounds good and it makes a lot of sense. Trouble with it is that when you
are in the heat of battle with your favorite casino or sportsbook it can be very
difficult to let your common sense be your guiding light. ... (read more)
Superbowl 20021 February 2002
The biggest sports betting day of the year will take place on February 3rd. Of
course I'm referring to this year's Super Bowl. People that haven't made a bet
since last year's game are gearing up for this year's action. Also, bettors that
have battled the pointspread week in and week out since September are champing
at the bit to get even or to press it up and get further ahead. ... (read more)

I've been writing this column for twelve years for What's On magazine and in that
time there have been many changes here in Las Vegas. One thing that hasn't changed
is the odds for the house and against the player. Certain games afford the gambler
a greater degree of success than others. Blackjack, poker, sports betting are
the big three of games that can be beaten over the long haul. ... (read more)
