You Can Bet On It!

Any game can be beaten over the short haul. Even Megabucks gets hit every once in a while. To help you in your gambling venture you have to determine for yourself what you realistically want to accomplish.

Sure, everyone wants to win, that's more than obvious. Every one wants to be a millionaire, but there aren't that many that have the skill, tenacity, knowledge, or the other intangibles that are necessary to be a success.

I know many of the guys that have won the World Championship of Poker and although they are a multi cultured and have varied backgrounds, they all share a keen sense of perception and intelligence that helps to make them successful.

Also they work at what they do, and have the guts and foresight to maximize their winnings and minimize their losses. Like the song goes they "know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em".

How many times have you been gambling at a table and losing and just keep chasing your losses. In order to win, you have to accept your losses from time to time, and not get in too deep.

I have a friend that plays a lot of poker and is a better than average player. He is by no means on the level of a world champion, but does better than most. He looks at his playing poker as a lifetime game. The game began for him about twenty years ago and will continue until he literally is incapable of playing anymore. When he goes to eat or sleep or work at his regular job, it's just a break in the game for him. With this in mind he never goes on tilt. He never chases his losses in any single session of play. He figures that if he doesn't lapse and lose more than he should in any one session, it will vastly improve his chances overall in the extended game that he is involved in. The reason that I'm relaying this story of my friend is to illustrate the need for keeping control of one's perspective when you gamble.
