Bingo!

23 October 2021

Some players say “Bingo is more than a game…. It’s a way of life.” You will find a lot of bingo players agree with that philosophy. The game itself can be traced back to the 16th century Italy, when the state established “Lo Giuoco del lotto d’Italia.” which literally means "The Clearance of The Lot of Italy,"

In 1929, a carnival game called "Beano" was playing in Atlanta, Georgia. A New York toy salesman named Edwin Lowe, observed the game where players called out "BEANO!" if they filled a line of numbers on their card. Later, Lowe introduced the game to his friends in New York and it soon became very popular.

When bingo was first played, beans were used to cover the numbers; therefore, the game was called “Beano.” Later, Edwin Lowe, who started marketing the game, changed it to “Bingo” after a woman, who got her final number called one night, excitingly sputtered “B-b-bingo.”

Selecting cards -

If you select a single card, you will have a total of 24 numbers to play, plus the free spot in the center. That means that out of the 75 numbers that could be called, 51 will not help you. Once you are comfortable playing with one or two cards, you can increase the number to better your chances of winning. Optimally, you can play four cards which allow you to cover all 75 numbers. You need to have all 15 numbers under each letter of bingo on your cards.

To accomplish this, pick out two cards. Examine them to see if any duplicate number is present. If so, eliminate one of the cards. Keep doing this until you get two cards without any duplicate numbers. Then use the same method to select a third card. On the fourth card the process is very simple: all you have to find is a card with a total of three missing numbers. You now have all 75 numbers accounted for, and the more numbers you cover the better chance you have of winning. No matter what number is called you have it. Your chances of winning a straight bingo, four corners or even a coverall are much greater because you have 75 numbers on your four cards.

Selecting a seat -

As a player you should get to the bingo area at least 30 minutes before any games begin. Bingo players are known to be a serious group, and many will reserve seats for every session. In addition to selecting a seat that will allow you to see the flashboard clearly, and you’ll have time to select your individual cards.

There is a whole different world when it comes to bingo. You can play it for fun, you can become a serious player, or you can totally emerge yourself in it. I recommend you use it as a source of fun and entertainment. A place to meet people and have some enjoyable gaming experiences.
