Gayle Mitchell

Gayle Mitchell, one of the first women to break through the “felt ceiling” of the previously male-dominated world of casino gambling gurus, is now regarded as one of North America’s leading experts on casino gambling.

Gayle’s commitment to educating the gambling public began almost 20 years ago, when she walked into a Las Vegas casino and experienced for the first time the thrill that comes with winning even a small bet. She made up her mind then and there to learn every game in the casino, and a short time later resolved to make a career out of sharing her insights with other gamblers. She had always considered herself to be a good teacher – she believes in keeping things simple – and decided that she would commit herself to showing newbies how to become knowledgeable, intelligent gamblers.

Gayle started her own publishing company, and her first book came out in 1997. Today she is the author of seven books, seven EBooks, and a set of five Tips booklets, and has presented many seminars on casino gambling. Currently she teaches Learn to Win Programs with other leading experts at GamblingTeachers.com. The site is a player-friendly Free Gambling Learning Center offering 300+ online lessons for popular casino games plus Gambling Teachers Blog. Gayle also operates www.gamerisms.com, which is a games glossary site for sport, casino, skill and video game players.

“It’s a fact that less than 2 percent of casino players know the profitable, correct strategies and/or rules for most casino games,” Gayle says. “Our group of career teachers and writers are working to improve that statistic.”

Bonus Slots Update: Power Slotto, Hula Hula, Double Diamond Run

5 February 2002

Brrrr--it's cold out there. How about some warmer climes with a lei greeting and money to be made? Hula Hula is the slot for you.

You will find that there is no need to visit your local lottery ticket outlet when Slotto will scratch that bonus ticket for you.

Also, twice the fun is spun with Rapid Double Jackpot plus you can 'hit the ground running' on a Double Diamond Run.

All that and more as we return to exploring the newer bonus slots with update #15.

1) Power Slotto: This is a video version of Atlantic City's lottery themed Slotto game complete with TV hosts and convenience store items plus a lottery ticket outlet. There are two bonus events with numbered balls inside the top plastic sphere that drop down into a chamber when three or more 'Slotto Ball Blower' symbols land on a payline. If the ball bears a number in the first bonus event, that number is multiplied by the line bet and paid to the player. A ball marked 2X rewards the player with another ball and three balls labeled 2X wins 8000 coins times the line bet. The second bonus is triggered when three ticket symbols appear on the payline. A convenience store clerk presents you with a lottery scratch-off ticket and you are prompted to scratch one of the six spots revealing a bonus amount or a 'Bonus Ticket' that is hidden under just one of the spots. The bonus amounts are higher with each 'Bonus Ticket' spot scratched. This round ends when a player scratches one of the five spaces revealing any bonus amount. For those who purchase lottery tickets on a regular basis, this game will certainly hold your interest.

2) Hula Hula: The base game is the ever-popular Triple Diamond with wild symbols that triple the jackpot and multiply the prize by nine when two land on the payline with a jackpot symbol. Three 'lei' symbols with bonus amounts and a row of dice are displayed on the upper bonus screen that is triggered by a 'Coin Man' symbol appearing on the third reel. After the player's selection, the dice will indicate how many spaces you advance. Shimmy around picking up bonus points until you reach the 'Collect' icon to end the bonus round. However, if you land on a fruit symbol along the way and fill the cocktail glass, you move forward to a second lei and you're on your way to possibly collecting a 500-coin bonus if you can avoid the 'Collect' icon. Order a strawberry daiquiri, wear your Hawaiian shirt and enjoy.

3) Double Diamond Run: This game features a video screen, five reels and nine paylines. The video shows exactly what is happening on the five reels. Double Diamonds are wild when they appear on the three middle reels and three scattered bonus symbols on the center reels trigger the second-screen bonus game. Five reels appear on the screen and display different symbols than those on the physical reels. The player gets three bonus spins with a chance to win from a new paytable. If one or more diamonds appear while the player is in this bonus round he is rewarded another three bonus spins. Take a 'run' at this one with its high hit frequency and a decent payback.

4) Rapid Double Jackpot: This updated version of Double Jackpot features multiple '7' combinations paying 25-1 for mixed 7s, 50-1 for red 7s and 100-1 for blue 7s with max. coins in play. The Double Jackpot symbols land more frequently than on the original game plus there is a 500-coin bonus for landing three symbols. Two symbols double the jackpot and the hit frequency is higher with each hit returning at least, two-for-one. Isn't it great when an updated version also 'ups' the payouts?

I will be back soon with another bonus slots review just for you in 2002.
