Top 10 prop bets for the 2024-2025 NBA season7 October 2024
(All odds provided by bet365 Sportsbook & Racebook) 10. Doncic points leader (+150) After a tough NBA Finals series for the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic, who led the league in scoring last season, will look to do it again this year while aiming to lead his team to another deep playoff run. With arguably the best backcourt in basketball, the Dallas Mavs are seeing Doncic and Kyrie Irving carry the load on the offensive side of the ball. Young big man Derrick Lively has shown signs of improvement to help interior scoring as well as rim protection on defense, but the main chunk of it all lies with Luka. Despite not being the fastest player on the court, he knows how to use his body to score anywhere on the floor. Sure, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers could give Luka a run, but with Paul George being added to Philly, it will take some shots away from Embiid and the big man’s health is always a massive question mark.
9. Orlando to win Southeast (-140) One of the younger teams in the NBA, the Orlando Magic have really improved over the last couple of seasons and are now becoming more of a threat in the postseason. The Magic narrowly claimed the Southeast Division over the Miami Heat by one game last year but the Heat’s identity and chemistry is slowly dwindling and the Magic seem to be getting stronger and better as a unit. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are the two big pieces of this Magic roster with compliments such as Jalen Suggs and Wendell Carter Jr. In the offseason, the Magic added Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who has plenty of playoff experience and can knock it down from behind the arc. Orlando has a very well-balanced team and they can make a big jump this season. 8. Cleveland under 48.5 wins (+100) The Cleveland Cavaliers finished with a 48-34 record a season ago. It is pretty much the same team returning for the Cavs in 2024-2025, but several other teams in the Eastern Conference are improving. Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen both had injury problems late last year so it may take them some time getting back into their best form on the court. Evan Mobley is improving his game as his role continues to grow with the team, but with not much happening in bringing in additions for the Cavs this offseason, it will be difficult for them to reach that 49-win mark. 7. Gobert rebounds leader (+400) One of the bigger blockbuster trades that took place in the offseason recently happened with Karl-Anthony Towns being sent to the New York Knicks in a trade centered around Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo who now are with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This trade means Rudy Gobert will be the primary rim protector and big man for the TWolves. He will have plenty of opportunities to clean up the glass on both sides of the floor. Gobert finished second in rebounds last year behind this year’s favorite, Domantas Sabonis (+190) but by less than one rebound per game. 6. Phoenix to make playoffs (-210) In 2023-2024, the Phoenix Suns finished sixth place in the Western Conference but had a disappointing playoffs. The main core of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are all returning and appear to be healthy to start the season. Jusuf Nurkic, who is one of the stronger players in the NBA, is their inside presence. An under-the-radar offseason addition though was the Suns acquiring Tyus Jones. This is a point guard who can really control the game and get his playmakers the ball in good areas. In his career, Jones averages less than one turnover per game. Protecting the basketball is his best attribute which can make a big difference. This Phoenix team has a strong starting five with Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale able to come off the bench and provide more scoring.
5. Dallas to win Southwest (+110) As mentioned earlier, Luka Doncic has the capability to lead the NBA in scoring. While he does this, he also racks up rebounds and assists, adding more triple-doubles to his career. Kyrie Irving, one of the best ball handlers to play this game, is easily able to pick up the slack and give you 30 points on an off-shooting night for Doncic. While they aren’t “the splash brothers” like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson used to be, Dallas decided to go pick up Klay in the offseason to add some shooting on the wing. P.J. Washington at the other forward spot, Spencer Dinwiddie and Naji Marshall come off the bench to have a deeper roster than the runners-up did last season. 4. SGA to win MVP (+500) In the blink of an eye, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has become one of the most electrifying players in the NBA to watch. His slippery moves make him able to get the rim nearly anytime he wants. His speed makes players have to guard a few feet off of him but this allows him to pull up and knock down the jumper in a defender’s face. It always helps an MVP candidate when their team is successful and the Oklahoma City Thunder finished as the best team in the Western Conference in the regular season last year. With being so young, and most of the roster coming back, you should expect this team to be fighting for that top seed again this season. SGA should be in the MVP conversation with most likely Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets who has won the award three out of the last four years. 3. Haliburton assists leader (+165) Tyrese Haliburton, who suffered an injury keeping him out of the majority of the Eastern Conference Finals, led the NBA in assists per game (10.9) last season. Haliburton is a impressive passer who knows where his players are at all times so he can drive hard to the basket and toss a no-look pass to a cutting player for an easy layup. A big reason for his assists numbers being so high is how fast the Indiana Pacers play. On a make or a miss, that ball is shot up the floor in two seconds before a defense can set up. The Pacers love playing in transition and are very well-conditioned so they can keep this speed up for all four quarters. 2. Denver over 51.5 wins (+100) Many thought the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics were on a crash course last year to meet in the NBA Finals. Well, Boston held up its end, but Denver shockingly got bounced out in the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team obviously was disappointed they didn’t have a successful season in their eyes so they will be looking to redeem that. The Nuggets did lose Caldwell-Pope to the Magic but they were able to sign veteran Russell Westbrook who will be able to come off the bench and be the quarterback with that second unit. The main pieces of Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray are all back in Nuggets uniforms and them alone can be enough to make you a title contender.
1. Boston to win it all (+300) The defending champion Boston Celtics are again the favorite to win the title. Pretty much the entire team is coming back this season, and they brought in Lonnie Walker IV for possible bench minutes if needed. Jaylen Brown has added some more muscle to his body, Jayson Tatum had a tough experience in the Summer Olympics, so the Jays are going to be bringing it to the rest of the league again. The best defensive backcourt in basketball, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are going to be giving teams fits and making them work hard for every basket. Kristaps Porzingis is out with an injury until December but the team showed last year they can still win games in his absence. It will be very tough for someone to beat them in a series when on any given night a different player can lead them in scoring and be the difference maker.
