Top 10 casino openings and expansions for September 2025

15 September 2025

It’s always great to see your favorite casino is improving or adding something to make the experience even better. But don’t lose sight on other properties that are doing the same thing and give them a chance to crack your “go-to” list of casino-resorts. Here, we take a look at 10 casinos that have launched, announced or unveiled an opening or expansion since our last edition.

10. Gridiron Pit
Tropicana Atlantic City kicked off football season in bold fashion with the launch of Gridiron Pit.

Opened on 4 September, the newly activated space transforms a section of the casino floor into a fan zone that combines live game viewing, tailgate-inspired food and beverage offerings and table games action.

Gridiron Pit invites guests to catch every snap on large TV screens while enjoying blackjack games, seat-side food and drinks and photo-ready football-themed décor.

9. Cymbiotika Wellness Bar
Fontainebleau Las Vegas debuted the first Cymbiotika Wellness Bar on 29 August.

Located on the resort’s second-level Promenade Food Hall, the walkup destination will offer a menu of fresh juices, smoothies, açai bowls, salads, and wraps, alongside Cymbiotika’s lineup of natural and organic supplements.

Signature items on the Cymbiotika Wellness Bar menu include: a Banana Nut Smoothie with Magnesium L-Theronate; the Tropical Sunshine Açai Bowl with Irish Sea Moss; fresh juice options such as the kale-and-apple-infused Emerald; and Ruby Red, blended with beets and turmeric.

The fast-casual destination also serves salads and wraps featuring southwest blackened chicken or spicy miso salmon.

8. Buffalo and Mo Friends slot area
On 4 September, the Plaza Hotel and Casino held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the debut of a new dedicated area for fans of the popular Buffalo and Mo’ Mummy slot game franchises.

With 63 games, the Buffalo & Mo’ Friends slot area at the Plaza is the only one in downtown Las Vegas.

Located between the casino cage and the Plaza Rewards Players Club, the Buffalo & Mo’ Friends area at the Plaza features numerous fan-favorite Aristocrat Gaming titles, including: Buffalo Ultimate Stampede, Buffalo Ascension, Buffalo Power Pays, Buffalo Triple Power, Coin Trio Buffalo, Buffalo and Friends, Buffalo Diamond Extreme, Mo’ Mummy, Mo’ Mo’ Mo’ Mummy, Spooky Link, Ultimate Fast Cash, House of the Dragon, Phoenix Link, Jackpot Carnival, Firecracker Fortunes, Dragon Link, Lucky Looters and more.

7. Hollywood Casino Joliet
Last month marked the grand opening of Hollywood Casino Joliet, the new, land-based property by PENN Entertainment.

The $185 million casino replaces the former riverboat property that operated on the shores of the Des Plaines River since 1992.

Hollywood Casino Joliet welcomes guests to experience approximately 1,000 of the newest slot machines, 43 table games, a retail ESPN BET sportsbook, and upscale national and Chicagoland celebrity-led dining.

6. Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel
On 8 August, Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel, formerly known as Snoqualmie Casino, celebrated the anticipated grand opening of its new hotel tower, full-service spa, indoor and outdoor pool deck, 24/7 Drip coffee bar, and a sports bar, Hawks Peak.

Here are some key features of the Washington resort:

- A hotel tower offering views of the Cascade Mountains and Snoqualmie Valley
- MoonRise Spa, delivering a full menu of signature treatments and tranquil relaxation spaces

5. Foxwoods Resort Casino’s new poker room
The grand opening celebration at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut began on 9 September with a ceremony and room unveiling.

Highlights include advanced technology, automated sign-up kiosks for quick seating, 37 high-definition TVs showcasing live sports and poker, and nearby DraftKings Sportsbook kiosks to keep the action close.

The Poker Room operates Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.

4. Second hotel tower at M Resort
Earlier this month, PENN Entertainment announced that it expects to open the second hotel tower at M Resort Spa Casino in Nevada to the public on 1 December.

The approximately $206 million project is slated to open months ahead of the original construction timeline.

The new hotel tower nearly doubles the capacity of the company’s property south of the Las Vegas Strip, bringing its total to 765 rooms and suites. Meeting space will also increase, as the new, 15,000 square foot Montese Ballroom is expected to open on 1 October.

3. Ellis Island Casino expansion
On 4 September, Ellis Island Casino Hotel & Brewery announced the debut of the first phase of its $35 million expansion and renovation.

The new space doubles the casino floor, which includes a new casino bar, high-limit gaming area, and the recently announced Boomer’s Sportsbook.

The expansion also includes a new rooftop bar, The Deck, with views of Las Vegas Boulevard and seasonal craft cocktails, which will open this fall.

2. Largest Kentucky sportsbook
In August, Circa Sports Kentucky at The Mint Gaming Hall at Kentucky Downs cut the ribbon to officially welcome the state’s largest sportsbook.

The book boasts a 5,100-square-foot venue featuring an 80-foot-wide LED viewing screen, 31-foot odds board, luxury seating, live VSiN broadcast studio, and a mix of staffed betting counters and self-service kiosks.

Former Kentucky Representative Adam Koenig joined in for the opening festivities. Koenig was critical in building the groundwork for sports betting in the state, paving the way for Circa Sports Kentucky.

1. Jamul Casino’s new hotel tower
In mid-August, Jamul Casino Resort welcomed guests to the official grand opening of its boutique hotel tower, marking a new era in Southern California hospitality.

The 16-story property features a spa with a full-service salon, a rooftop pool with mountain views, and a signature dining venue.

With 200 Alexa-enabled rooms including multiple high-tech luxury suites, a speakeasy and invite-only gaming spaces, the project marks a new era in Southern California hospitality.
