Casino City's Week 15 NFL Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest Picks

16 December 2022

Those who take part in fantasy football are either already in or about to begin their playoffs and luckily there are no more bye weeks in the NFL to hinder any lineups.

As these fantasy footballers aim to win their league, many still have hopes of winning some cash from the Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest.

The Casino City team has been hovering around .500 for weeks, but we have a couple of weeks remaining to end on a positive note. Hopefully that trend begins this week with our picks.

Washington -4.5 over NY Giants
Sometimes you have to wonder what the NFL is thinking when it maps out the schedule each year, especially if you are a member of the NY Giants this week.

Two weeks ago, the G-Men squared off at home against the Commanders in a game that ended in a 20-20 deadlock. Last week, while Washington rested up and benefited from the much-desired late season bye, New York hosted another NFC East foe, the NFL-leading Philadelphia Eagles, and got hammered, 48-22, as a 7.5-point home dog. This week, the Giants head to the nation’s capital for a rematch with the Commanders and will be playing their sixth game in six weeks. Washington, meanwhile, not only gets the huge rest advantage, but has also been able to prepare and focus on the Giants for three straight weeks.

Aside from this massive scheduling edge, Washington enters this week 6-1-1 against the spread in its last eight games, thanks to a defense that hasn’t allowed more than 21 points during this recent run and ranks fourth in the NFL in QB pressure and fifth in blitz rate. That doesn’t bode well for a Giants offensive line that is down two starters and is ranked 31st in the league entering Week 15 by Pro Football Focus, allowing the second-most sacks this season.

Lay the home favorite.

Jacksonville +3.5 over Dallas
Last week the Jaguars finally got over the hump in Nashville, as they beat the Tennessee Titans convincingly, 36-22, for the first time in the Music City since 2013. This week, they look to topple another albatross as they haven’t beat an NFC team in 20 consecutive games dating back to 2018.

Enter the reeling and banged-up 10-3 Cowboys, who also almost lost at home to the lowly Houston Texans last week. With a victory or multiple other scenarios, Dallas can lock up a playoff berth this week.

Jacksonville at 5-8 overall and 2-2 in AFC South is still clinging to its postseason life, and would love nothing more than to build on last week. The way to do this is simple. If Jaguars’ signal caller Trevor Lawrence can stay clean and out of the reach of Dallas’ Micah Parsons then he’ll look to build off his best performance of his career as he torched the Titans last week for 368 yards, three touchdowns in the air, and a rushing score.

Arizona +2.5 over Denver
On Monday night, Arizona fans had a gut-wrenching feeling on the third play of the game as its quarterback Kyler Murray went down in pain after a non-contact injury. It was confirmed the following day that Murray suffered a torn ACL and is obviously out for the remainder of the year.

The Cardinals now turn to veteran backup Colt McCoy, who didn’t play all that poorly despite being thrown into the mix against a solid New England defense. It helps that McCoy has exceptional targets to get the ball to in DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

The Broncos, who have dealt with offensive struggles all year, also have their QB listed on the injury report. Russell Wilson had to leave the game on Sunday against the Chiefs after he took a tough hit and suffered a concussion. Wilson was a limited participant Thursday but still is dealing with the concussion. Being already eliminated from the playoffs, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Denver be extremely cautious and sit Wilson this weekend.

Los Angeles Chargers -3 over Tennessee
The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off a big win against the Miami Dolphins. Not surprisingly it coincided with QB Justin Herbert having all of his targets available and not on the injury report like he has seen for most of this season.

Herbert had arguably his best game of the season with 367 passing yards and a touchdown pass. The Titans struggle to defend the passing game as they give up 300 yards through the air per game, which has been a major factor in the team’s current three-game losing streak.

The Titans will have to once again depend on their running game to carry the offense behind the seemingly impossible-to-tackle Derrick Henry. The Chargers have had issues stopping the run game in the past, but did hold Miami to 92 rushing yards last week. If it wasn’t for a crazy fumble recovery that led to a touchdown from Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins would’ve only scored 10 points against the Chargers.

Sitting just on the outside of the playoffs looking in, this is a very important game for the Chargers to take care of business.

New England PK over Las Vegas
For New England fans, the first half of Monday Night Football was more of the same, screens and runs up the middle. In the second half though it appeared that offensive play caller Matt Patricia listed to QB Mac Jones’ emotional outbursts about the offense as the playbook opened up slightly, sparking the offense to a 27-13 victory.

The Patriots will see a familiar face on the opposing sideline this weekend as former New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels now holds the head coaching job in Las Vegas. While being a head coach hasn’t really panned out for him this year or in a previous stint with Denver, going up against your former team is always added motivation.

The Pats saw leading rusher Rhamondre Stevenson go down with an injury and he was a non-participant in Thursday’s practice. If the back can’t go Sunday, New England may have to turn to one of the two rookies that replaced him Monday night, Pierre Strong Jr. and Kevin Harris.

This is most likely a must-win game for the Patriots if they want a shot at the playoffs. They currently sit in the final wild card spot, but after this week the schedule only gets more difficult. The final three games of the season for the Pats will be home against the Bengals and Dolphins with the regular season wrapping up in Buffalo.

Week 14 Results: 3-2
Season Record: 34-33-1
