Casino City’s Friday Five: Jackpots and Las Vegas F1 edition

13 September 2024

This week, we have, not just one, but two players who saw their lives change with a payout of over $1 million. Before we get into those massive wins, we have Caesars Sportsbook making a name for itself in Washington, D.C., a new gambling association focusing on responsible play, and look ahead to the second F1 Las Vegas.

Let’s begin with a win from Atlantic City:

5. New York woman wins $1 million at Harrah’s in Atlantic City
A New York woman is now a millionaire courtesy of Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah's Atlantic City and Tropicana Atlantic City.

The $1.5 Millionaire Maker Sweepstakes kicked off Memorial Day Weekend, and Caesars Rewards members had chances all summer to be entered into the running as well as win their share of over $500,000 in weekly prizes.

The winner was awarded the grand prize at the finale at Harrah’s Resort on 1 September.

All 30 finalists had to be present in The Concert Venue at Harrah’s Resort when the $1 million grand prize was awarded. The 29 other finalists each received $1,000 in Free Casino Play.

4. Planet Hollywood pays out seven-figure Pai Gow Poker win
On 5 September, a Caesars Rewards member had a stroke of luck when he hit a Seven Card Straight Flush on the progressive jackpot playing Pai Gow Poker at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas.

A visitor from Omaha, Nebraska had been playing for an hour and a half when he struck gold, winning $1,620,470.

When asked about his initial reaction, the man said his first thought was to call his wife. The lucky player visited the casino that night for a football game and also stated that he plans to invest his winnings.

3. New gaming association promotes responsible play
Last week, in an apparent reaction to increasing scrutiny regarding the sweepstakes casino model, 11 industry operators announced the launch of the Social and Promotional Gaming Association, an organization dedicated to providing stakeholder education and advocating for the responsible operation of social and promotional games, sometimes referred to as social sweepstakes games.

The social games offered by SPGA members allow consumers to play online for free, with no purchase necessary, and provide consumers the opportunity to win prizes when they play.

The SPGA’s mission is to highlight the well-established legality and legitimacy of social sweepstakes games, providing regulators, policymakers, and consumers with a comprehensive understanding of these offerings.

As this form of entertainment continues to grow in popularity, the organization and its members are working to ensure that millions of adults in the U.S. can continue to enjoy these legal games safely and responsibly.

2. Caesars Sportsbook to expand wagering footprint in Washington, DC
On Tuesday, Caesars Entertainment announced it will bring Caesars Sportsbook self-service kiosks to 53 small businesses across Washington, D.C.

Caesars Sportsbook wagering kiosks will replace the GambetDC sports wagering kiosks currently in place at OLG-licensed sports betting retail locations.

Every wager placed with Caesars Sportsbook, whether at a kiosk, in-person Caesars Sportsbook at Capital One Arena, or on the mobile app, earns Reward Credits.

1. Gearing up for F1 Las Vegas
In this week's video, we've got information on the types of tickets available, the entertainment for the Vegas Grand Prix weekend, and the F1 Experiences you will want to be a part of.

Race fans may be interested to learn about the first free daytime Las Vegas Grand Prix Fan Experience on 22 and 23 November. Taking place on Las Vegas Boulevard across from Wynn Las Vegas, race weekend visitors and locals can dive into the world of Formula 1 with F1 Academy team appearances, live entertainment, local food trucks and more.

Global superstars Ludacris, Alesso and OneRepublic are set to headline the T-Mobile Zone at Sphere Stage during F1 Vegas from 21-23 November. Additionally, Chromeo, DRAMA, Kaleena Zanders, MEUTE, The Beaches, TOO MANY ZOOZ and more will take the stage for performances throughout the weekend.
