Casino City’s Friday Five: Gambling ban and deposit limits edition

2 October 2026

An executive order has been signed in Brazil that bans online betting. Before we get into those details, we have a few other stories, including Polymarket setting deposit limits for U.S. players, some NBA prop bets to look at, an expansion in Atlantic City, and a jackpot out of Florida.

Let’s start today with a massive win:

5. $133K slot jackpot at Seminole Casino Brighton Bay
An anonymous guest won a jackpot totaling $113,970 on 27 September at Seminole Brighton Bay Hotel & Casino in Florida.

The guest was playing a Dragon Link slot machine and placed a $5 bet to land the jackpot.

4. Top 10 NBA prop bets for the 2026/2027 season
The NBA preseason tips off tomorrow night and below are a few prop bets for this season to consider:

Gobert to lead league in rebounds per game
We already mentioned Gobert’s size, but let’s get into it a little more.

The big man from France is always in the running for most rebounds per game. Last season, he finished in fifth, second in 2023-2024, and won the title in 2021-2022.

At 34 years old, you do have to be careful with how many minutes he plays per game, but even last year, Gobert played over 31 minutes per game. The center position is also not very deep for the Timberwolves so he will have to keep his minutes up if this team wants to be in positions to win.

You should expect to see him in there during crunch time almost every game and grabbing most of the boards.

Doncic to lead the league in points per game
Even being paired with LeBron, Luka still managed to lead the league in points per game last year with 33.5 points per contest.

Now you lose LeBron to Philly and more shots go to Doncic and Reaves for the Lakers. More shots will equal more points. I am not saying he will blow by 33.5 points per game but he should be around a similar number this year.

He will need to be at that level of play for the Lakers to have the year they are hoping for.

Jokic to win MVP
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has won the MVP award the last two years, but let’s not forget the man who won three out of four prior to Shai winning.

Nikola Jokic was top 10 in points per game, and led the NBA in assists and rebounds per game. He is arguably the best passing big man the league has ever seen and continues to play at a high level.

The starting five that ended the year with Denver is back for this season and Jokic put up big numbers with that group and we have no reason to believe that will change in 2026/2027.

3. Ocean Casino Resort announces plans for expansion and transformation of The Cove
Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City is elevating its high-limit slot experience with the unveiling of a newly transformed space, The Cove.

Following a $14 million investment, the transformation brings together an expanded gaming floor, elevated hospitality and a new design. Slated to open in early 2027, The Cove will be located adjacent to the Asian Table Games area.

The Cove will span 11,935 square feet, roughly a 60% increase, and feature than 192 slot machines.

2. Polymarket adds deposit limits for US users
Polymarket, the prediction market platform, unveiled a suite of enhanced user protection and responsible trading tools, including voluntary self-exclusion, deposit limits and access to mental health resources for users experiencing compulsive trading behaviors.

Traders can voluntarily exclude themselves from the platform for periods ranging from 30 days to one year to a lifetime. U.S. users can also set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits across all funding methods. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately, while raising or removing one requires a cooling-off period.

1. Brazil bans online betting
Last week, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva issued a provisional measure prohibiting fixed-odds sports betting and online casino gaming throughout Brazil ahead of the 4 October election.

The measure prohibits the operation, offering, intermediation and advertising of fixed-odds betting. It also immediately prohibited new deposits, and licensed betting websites and apps are required to become unavailable beginning 6 October.

The Brazilian government has already begun implementing the prohibition. On Tuesday, the Ministries of Justice and Finance announced that they had requested the blocking of 5,209 gambling-related domains, with Anatel having already issued blocking orders for 2,387 of them.
