Ugandan Casino Gets Approval

UGANDA – As reported by the Kampala: "Grand Casino, a $2million (sh3.4b) investment will start operations on April 15 after getting a nod from the finance ministry, making it the second casino after Kampala Casino.

"This means, the gambling agency, owned by Americans will operate before the Casino and Gambling Bill 2004 is enacted. The Bill is in its final stages.

"The casino was registered in July 2003 and was supposed to start operations in September the same year, but never took off due to lack of the law.

"…The company's managing director, Shon Sharabi, said in the last two months, they had trained 250 locals to be employed at the Casino located at Crested Towers…"
