18 June 2010

PLACERVILLE, California -- A man's losing poker hand pocketed him nearly $54,000, The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The jackpot, known as a "bad beat" jackpot, is a promotion that's won when a great poker hand is lost, the report said.

22-year-old Sam Mullins won the jackpot at Red Hawk Casino and said he'd be using it towards his student loans, The San Francisco Chronicle said.
