PokerStars ready for Macau return

30 December 2010

(PRESS RELEASE) -- It's nearly five years since No-Limit Texas Hold'em was introduced to the world's live gaming capital – Macau. Since then, the PokerStars Macau poker room in the Grand Lisboa casino has become the leading venue for live poker in Asia, and it will see plenty of action once again in 2011 with the announcement of the PokerStars Macau 2011 calendar.

The special events calendar for 2011 will feature the Macau Poker Cup (MPC) series (February 21-28); the Macau Poker Cup Championship (October 7-16); the Macau Millions from April 2-10; and the annual Asia-Pacific Poker Tour Macau, which is set to return in November.

There will be a number of changes, expected to generate bigger and richer events. The long-running Red Dragon Main Event will have a slightly larger buy-in (HKD$11,000), a larger starting stack of 15,000 chips, and, most notably, a guaranteed prize pool of HKD$3,000,000.

The MPC has also seen its schedule expanded from five to seven days in order to accommodate the growing popularity of the series. The week will feature six events, including a special Charity Event with HKD $50,000 in added prizes.

For the complete Macau Poker Cup schedule, please go to the PokerStars Macau Web site.
