New Greektown chairman named24 August 2007NEWBERRY,Michigan -- As reported by the Sault St. Marie Evening News: "Fred Paquin will be the new chairman of Greektown Casino as a resolution to return Tribal Chairman Aaron Payment to his former post went down on an 8-3 vote by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Board of Directors during Tuesday's meeting in Newberry. "'We feel this is in the best interest of Greektown Casino and our tribe,' said Director Cathy Abramson early this morning explaining the rationale behind the change. "The Greektown Management Board had voted earlier this month to remove Payment from the chair position selecting Paquin as his replacement. "...Chairing the Greektown Casino Management Board does not come with any special powers, according to those who understand the nature of this body. While the chairman can direct discussion, essentially this individual has no more power than any other member of the board. The Greektown Management Board is made up of the Sault Tribe Board of Directors and at least one representative from the minority shareholders..." |
