Detroit casinos report $109 million in August 2026 revenue14 September 2026(PRESS RELEASE) -- Detroit’s three commercial casinos reported $109.72 million in aggregate revenue for August 2026. Table games and slots generated $108.86 million, while retail sports betting produced $863,913 in qualified adjusted gross receipts. Market shares (August 2026) were: - MGM Grand Detroit Casino, 48% - MotorCity Casino, 31% - Hollywood Casino at Greektown, 21% Table Games and Slot Revenue August 2026 table games and slot revenue increased 3.0% compared with August 2025 but decreased 2.5% from July 2026. For the period January 1 through August 31, revenue was up by 2.0% year-over-year. Casino-level results compared with August 2025 were: - MGM: up 2.3% to $52.90 million - MotorCity: up 8.3% to $33.77 million - Hollywood Casino at Greektown: down 2.6% to $22.19 million The casinos paid $8.8 million in state gaming taxes in August, compared with $8.6 million in August 2025. They also reported submitting $17.1 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit. Retail Sports Betting Revenue Detroit casinos reported $7.21 million in total retail sports betting handle for August. Total gross receipts were $876,492. QAGR decreased 30.4% from August 2025 and 7.1% from July 2026. August QAGR by casino: - MGM: $258,231 - MotorCity: $262,761 - Hollywood Casino at Greektown: $342,921 The casinos paid $32,656 in state taxes and submitted $39,913 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit based on August retail sports betting activity. Fantasy Contests For July 2026, fantasy contest operators reported $481,406 in adjusted revenues and paid $40,438 in taxes. |
