MGM Grand Plan for Casino OK'd

MICHIGAN -- As reported by the Detroit Free Press: "The Michigan Gaming Control Board gave unanimous approval Tuesday to MGM Grand Detroit casino's plans for a permanent hotel/casino structure.

"Approval of the plan, which included few details, was a formality. Construction has been under way for weeks. Phyllis James, senior vice president and senior counsel for MGM Mirage, the parent company, said final budget and design have not been approved.

"As previously reported, the company plans to build an entirely new casino with 100,000 square feet and add a 17-story hotel with 401 rooms, a pool and spa, according to plans submitted to the city in 2002..."
