BC Casino Reaches New Workers' Contract

VERNON, British Columbia – As reported by the Morning Star: "Lake City Casino workers have a new contract with their employer. Members of the B.C. Government and Service Employees Union have ratified the three- year agreement by a margin of 86 per cent.

"…Highlights of the agreement include wage rate increases of 28, 29 and 30 cents per hour, representing a 2.4 per cent increase in each year, and a lump sum payment of $475 per member following ratification.

"Employees will also see full employer-paid health benefits, improved working conditions, expansion of bereavement leave and an expedited arbitration process…"
