New Table Games Show Potential

19 December 1999
LAS VEGAS Every year, I make my way up and down the aisles at the giant World Gaming Congress and Expo, trying out every new table game I can find. There are specific things I want to find out. Is the game easy enough to play for a first-timer? Is there enough going on to hold the players' ... (read more)

Stooges slot machine signals bid to expand

15 December 1999
LAS VEGAS Testing the new Three Stooges slot machine at the World Gaming Congress and Expo, I found myself with the faces of Moe, Larry and Curly across the payline. Just then, a bald-headed fellow in denim shuffled by my machine. "Pick me!" he said excitedly. "Woob! Woob!" A stagy ... (read more)

Who Dunnit? WMS Gaming!

8 December 1999
Ever since Reel 'Em In hooked a growing segment of slot players on multiline, multicoin video slot machines, some players have struggled with the idea of maximum bets of 45 coins or more. The Casino Answer Man

23 November 1999
I just went to the Wisconsin Dells area a couple of weeks ago, and loved the fact that I could play at a $3 blackjack table at Ho-Chunk Casino with little waiting, and that the majority of tables had $5 minimum bets. There were many empty tables. My question is, what will it take for a ... (read more)

The closest machines are a few hours away at Ho-Chunk Casino at Baraboo, Wis., in the Wisconsin Dells, and at Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, Ill. ... (read more)

Conspiracy Theory

26 October 1999
Casino claims about payback percentages can be tricky to decipher. Usually the effect is that the player thinks he's being promised more than really is there, but sometimes a player is fooled into thinking there have been cutbacks that didn't really happen. Such was the case a couple of weeks ago when ... (read more)

The Casino Answer Man

19 October 1999
I have a friend who, when she gambles, plays only video poker. In the last 10 months - and she gambles maybe every four to six weeks - she has hit a royal flush SIX TIMES! She's done this at different locales: Trump's in Gary, Las Vegas and Iowa. Sometimes she's playing dollars, sometimes quarters, sometimes one coin, sometimes five, but altogether she's won at least $4,500. ... (read more)
