Top 10 casino openings and expansions for early 2020

In the first week of January, we released our top 10 casino openings and expansions for the November and December. Now, we take a look at the new additions to casinos that have taken place in the opening month and a half of the new decade. 10. The D Las Vegas to debut BarCanada Next month, The D Las Vegas in Downtown Vegas will unleash its new hockey-themed tavern. BarCanada also will bring on-site programming by VSiN, where their team of experts will provide sports betting analysis and live insights. This is just part of the resort’s second-level expansion project. Additionally, the D will refresh its 9,000-square-foot second floor casino by adding 800 square-feet to its current sportsbook, along with Keno and high-limit slots areas. 9. Buffalo Bar at Rampart Casino On 8 February, Rampart Casino Resort at Summerlin unveiled the Buffalo Bar for players to enjoy. The space features a wide variety of Buffalo slot games including the all-new Winner’s World Multi-Game bar top, featuring Buffalo slots and Buffalo Keno, as well as player favorites including Buffalo, Buffalo Gold, Buffalo Gold Revolution, Buffalo Stampede, Buffalo Diamond and Buffalo Grand. The Las Vegas casino’s new area includes 1,095 square-feet of gaming as well as offer nine bar seats with corresponding Aristocrat bar-top games. Furthermore, the bar will feature the signature ‘Hairy Buffalo’ cocktail. 8. Wynn Las Vegas opening Elio in March Elio, a Mexican restaurant, will be welcomed by Wynn Las Vegas on 19 March. "The addition of Elio will be a defining moment as we embark on expanding the collection of restaurants at Wynn," said Marilyn Spiegel, President of Wynn Las Vegas. The restaurant will occupy the space adjacent to Encore Beach Club. The lounge will be open daily and serve weekend brunch and the dining room will be open nightly. 7. Station Casinos debuts new rooms and suites Guests at and are now able to book and stay in refreshed hotel rooms and enhanced suites. At Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas, over 700 deluxe king and deluxe double queen rooms and 55 signature suites on the property are newly renovated and have been transformed with rooms ranging up to 2,065 square-feet. Guests will be able to experience new amenities such as a 65-inch high definition TV, RFID room key technology, and expanded WiFi coverage, as well as a pull-out sleeper sofa available in its signature suites. Both The Strip and Presidential suites at Green Valley have been renovated and now feature a sensory experience for the premier guest, ranging up to 2,750 square-feet. Each offers views of the Las Vegas Strip, eight-acre backyard pool area and the 35,000-square-foot spa and salon. 6. Moon Palace opens at The Venetian The Venetian Las Vegas welcomed Moon Palace, a new concept from David Chang and the team behind Majordomo Meat & Fish. The goal of this venue is serve Las Vegas guests and visitors a quick and tasty food in a fast-paced environment. To order at Moon Palace, guests line up along an open kitchen where they can watch our team frying. Guests can take their food to go or grab a seat at one of 20 stools along a countertop with a view of the kitchen or the action of the Palazzo. 5. New sportsbook at Grand Falls Casino Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Iowa officially introduced the first US sportsbook by Betfred USA Sports on 30 January. The 3,500 square-foot sportsbook has 80 screens, 10 recliners, 22 lounging chairs, two reservable VIP areas, five high top tables, a full bar and food service. Sharon Haselhoff, general manager of Grand Falls, said "We are thrilled and excited to work together with Betfred USA Sports who brings decades of retail and online expertise to our region.” The online and mobile launch of Betfred Sports will follow in the coming weeks to allow players to bet from anywhere within the state of Iowa. 4. MGM Springfield unveils new suites and Italian restaurant has unveiled 12 new king and queen suites now available for booking, adding another elevated room experience to the resort’s portfolio. The western Massachusetts resort that opened in the summer of 2018 features 240-room six-story hotel that now boasts 28 total suites including Rotunda Suites, Deluxe Spa Suites, Deluxe Garden Suites and a 1,600-square-foot Presidential Suite. On top of the new suites, the resort introduced a new Costa restaurant. This will be the Italian restaurant’s third outpost, having debuted as Osteria Costa at Las Vegas and in 2018. The addition to the food and beverage portfolio of MGM Springfield will open on 28 February. “Authentic Italian cuisine is a hallmark of our South End neighborhood in downtown Springfield,” said Vice President of Hospitality for MGM Springfield Anthony Caratozzolo. “We’re honored to celebrate those traditions and make new memories with one of our own original restaurants.” 3. $10 million expansion at Yellow Brick Road Casino Yellow Brick Road Casino’s latest expansion is a 19,400 square-foot entertainment venue which includes, “The Lanes,” a six-lane luxury Brunswick Bowling Center; two high-tech Topgolf Swing Suite bays; multiple pool tables; shuffleboard; sports-betting desk; more than 65 additional slot machines; more than 20 LED screens; and an expansive full-service bar and dining area. The official grand opening event took place on 13 February, where guests were offered an exclusive first look at the new social games and amenities. The upstate New York resort’s new features include a brand-new gaming floor with a contemporary industrial design, and The Lounge with Caesars Sports, the largest sports book in New York with VIP amenities, luxury seating and fan caves. 2. New poker room at SAHARA Las Vegas On Valentine’s Day, SAHARA Las Vegas, which introduced a complete rebrand late last year, welcomed players into the all-new poker room. The new poker room boasts seven tables, a 16-foot by nine-foot LED video wall and five additional screens throughout the room along with 24/7 food options provided by Northside Café. The room will offer an extensive game chart including No Limit Texas Hold’em, Limit Hold’em, , 7-card Stud and various mix. Tournaments will be offered daily with at least four start times and buy-ins ranging from $45 to $100, with No Limit Texas Hold’em as the primary tournament. 1. Island Resort and Casino announces $30 million expansion The Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Council approved a $30 million expansion of the in Harris, Michigan to include over 100 hotel rooms. A high end dining venue, as well as convention space is planned for the top floor of the Michigan resort. The expansion also includes a pool with water park features for kids and young adults under 18. Engineering, design and bidding will be ongoing through spring of this year. Construction is scheduled to begin in June with expected completion during the 2021 calendar year.
