Casino City's Week 9 NFL Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest Picks

4 November 2022

Last week, we came pretty close to our first perfect 5-0 week of the NFL season, ending up with a very respectable 4-1 performance. We are just about at the halfway point in this National Football League season and if we want to get in the money and cash in the Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest, we’ll need more weeks like last Sunday.

Having said that, let’s try to stay hot as we dive into our Week 9 picks.

1. Baltimore -2.5 over New Orleans
The biggest problem all year for the New Orleans Saints has been getting receivers healthy. It has been the Chris Olave show because Michael Thomas, who just recently went on IR and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, and Jarvis Landry have both been battling injuries all year long.

A key to this game is going to be the health status of Ravens’ tight end Mark Andrews who has been battling through injuries and had a tough go of it the previous two weeks. Andrews had no catches two weeks ago and just 33 receiving yards last week. Andrews has been Lamar Jackson’s go-to pass catcher and the quarterback will need him healthy come Monday night. Andrews didn’t practice Thursday and as of this morning his status is questionable at best for the game.

Another big factor in this game will be can the front seven of the New Orleans’ defense contain Jackson. If you have watched even just one drive of Ravens’ football, you know that Jackson is one of the best at extending plays and making something out of nothing with his legs.

2. Washington +3 over Minnesota

Bill Parcells, one of our favorite NFL head coaches of all time, was often fond of saying, "You are what your record says you are."

But as much as we love the Big Tuna, when it comes to the Minnesota Vikings, we are pretty certain they are not a legit 6-1 team. Not only are the Vikings 3-4 where it counts (at the betting window), but five of their six wins have come by eight points or less. What's more, only one of Minnesota's wins came against a team with a winning record and that was the Dolphins with Skylar Thompson and Tedy Bridgewater at QB. Oh, and the Vikings were actually outgained in that game in total yards, 458-234.

On the other side of the ball, we have a Washington team that's very quietly on a three-game winning streak and is playing with much more energy with Taylor Heinicke at QB instead of Carson Wentz, who may be working at The Home Depot next year at this time. Take the home dog!

3. Seattle +2 over Arizona
According to research, when people are asked to pick a number between 1 and 10, most people pick the number 7.

Why is this relevant? It’s important because coming into the season most people, including the sportsbooks, predicted that Seattle would win 5.5 games at the most. Now coming into this week, the Seahawks are sitting atop the NFC West with a 5-3 record and a three-game winning-streak, which happened to start over these same Cardinals. So how are they doing it?

The answer is simple: No. 7 QB Geno Smith. The signal caller who everyone doubted coming into the season is making people take notice as he was just named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Month. Now we’re not the gambling type (ha, oh wait we are), but the only number that is going to matter after this weekend’s game is the Lucky Number 7 as Seattle keeps its streak going.

4. Las Vegas -1.5 over Jacksonville
It is probably safe to say that the Las Vegas Raiders are one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL. An offense featuring Derek Carr, Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Darren Waller should have a much better record than 2-5.

Coming off the most embarrassing loss of the season for the Raiders, a 24-0 shutout loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas needs a bounce back offensively if it wants to get its first road win of the season.

With Adams dealing with an injury last week and not his normal self, the Saints defense could really focus on shutting down Jacobs and they did a solid job doing that.

After a 2-1 start to the season, the Jaguars have been in almost every game but they are riding a five-game losing streak heading into Sunday’s contest.

Also, despite being on the road, Las Vegas actually has the “rest” advantage here since it remained on the East Coast after last week’s loss in New Orleans and practiced in Florida while the Jaguars are fresh off a trip to London where they blew a 10-0 lead in losing to Denver.

Don’t be surprised to see another one-possession game end in another close loss for Jacksonville this week.

5. Miami -5 over Chicago
The reason behind this pick is pretty straight forward. The Dolphins have the best receiving duo in the NFL and it really isn’t close. Tyreek Hill leads the league in receiving yards with 961 and Jaylen Waddle is in fourth with 727. Those numbers would be decent yearly totals, but we are only halfway through this season.

The Dolphins also bolstered their defense by trading for pass rusher Bradley Chubb just a couple of days ago before the trading deadline ended.

Sure, the Bears defense looked better than it had in the early parts of the season after upsetting the Patriots in New England two weeks ago, but it was a revolving door against the Dallas Cowboys last week.

On top of that, the Bears traded one of their best defensive weapons, Roquan Smith, to the Baltimore Ravens. If you can’t get a pass rush on Tua Tagovailoa and give him time, Hill and Waddle will eventually create separation from defensive backs and get open.

Week 8 Results: 4-1
Season Record: 22-17-1
