Casino City's Week 4 NFL Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest Picks30 September 2022
Roughly 75% of contestants in the Survivor challenge have already been eliminated through three weeks. Because of this, Circa CEO Derek Stevens is offering an Empathy Package for those who are already out. This package includes a hotel stay at any of Stevens’ three properties along with a day bed at Stadium Swim during your visit. Considering our 1-4 week in our picks last week, we really hope Stevens come up with a similar package for the Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest Picks. But since there is nothing in place for that, we must find a way to dig ourselves out of the below-.500 club.
Here we take a look at our Week 4 picks: 1. Dallas -3 over Washington It seems Dak Prescott will not be back in the huddle this week and is eyeing possibly a Week 5 return due to a hand injury suffered in Week 1. However, for the Washington Commanders, that may not be a good thing. This means Cooper Rush will be under center for the Cowboys and he is 3-0 as a starter in his career, including 2-0 this season. “Cooper Clutch,” as he has been called in recent weeks, has found a great connection with receivers CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown. Both can really provide big plays with their ability to get yards after the catch with speed and quickness. These two will be a handful for the Commanders’ defense as it allows just north of 27 points per game to opponents. It is also safe to say the Commanders’ offense really hasn’t found a flow or identity. Even last week, Washington’s offense only scored one touchdown and it came in garbage time as the Commanders lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-8. At home and with the crowd behind him, Cooper Rush should improve to 4-0 as a starter in the NFL. 2. Minnesota -2.5 over New Orleans in London Let's head across the pond to the home stadium of English Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur where a MASH unit called the New Orleans Saints will take on Minnesota. The injury report for the Saints is bleak with QB Jameis Winston not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday. His best WR, Michael Thomas, has also not practiced this week, while RB Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill were both limited. This is not good news for an offense that has seen nearly 75% of its production come in the 4th quarter during garbage time and has scored a TD on just one of 25 drives in the first three quarters of its games this year. Minnesota escaped an upset loss last week at home against Detroit and has some injury concerns of its own, but the Saints could easily be 0-3 and obviously miss former head coach and offensive guru Sean Payton dearly. This number is cheap and if Winston can’t play, the line will move up so we’ll be getting great value on the contest card. Lay the 2.5 points.
3. Green Bay -9.5 over New England Talk about kicking a team when it’s down, but the numbers don’t lie. In fact, the only lying that has been going on this week has been from Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick, quarterback Mac Jones and the rest of the New England players when forced to go to the podium for press conferences. Here’s a little secret: Jones isn’t playing this week due to his ankle injury suffered last week and probably isn’t playing for a while, so enter quarterback journeyman Brian Hoyer. If that isn’t bad enough news then it gets worse when the New England defense looks across the line of scrimmage and sees reigning consecutive NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Add in the Packers’ running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon as well as rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs on offense along with the league’s sixth ranked defense for opponent’s points and yards per game, and what you have is a simple fact for Patriots’ coaches, players and most importantly the fans – You can’t handle the truth! 4. LA Chargers -5 over Houston If you didn’t think Justin Herbert was tough, you better think again. Despite the 38-10 loss to Jacksonville on Sunday, Herbert played with damaged ribs and still nearly had 300 yards through the air. With another week of healing, I think Herbert will have a big bounce back game after a brutal team game against the Jaguars. Sure, Herbert may be without top target Keenan Allen for the second week in a row, but Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams have enough explosiveness in them to change a game. The main problem with the Chargers this season has been on defense and Joey Bosa, one of the league’s best pass rushers, was just placed on injured reserve and his season is likely done. However, the Houston Texans’ offense is nowhere near where its coaches and fans want it to be. The Chargers still have that sour taste of getting beaten up by Jacksonville and need a big statement win this week in order to get back to 2-2 and let the rest of the league know they aren’t going to roll over.
5. NY Giants -3 over Chicago Both of these teams have probably shocked many by being 2-1 through three weeks, and someone will come out this matchup 3-1, unless the wild tie comes into play. The Giants at home seem to be a safer play here as the offense of the Chicago Bears just doesn’t impress and the consistency of second-year QB Justin Fields hasn’t been proven. Not to say that the Giants have shown they can score at will, but they seem to have more promise than the 11 players on the offensive side of the ball in the Windy City. QB Daniel Jones will have his work cut out for him because Sterling Shepard tore his ACL on Monday night in Dallas and is out for the season. This is the time for Kenny Golladay, who is sitting on a $7 million contract and to say he is underperforming would be an understatement. This is his chance to prove to fans it wasn’t a complete waste of money and that he can catch a ball. When protected, Jones has shown signs of solid decision making and throwing ability so I like him to lead the offense to a touchdown victory.
Week 3 record: 1-4 Season record: 6-9
