Casino City's Week 13 NFL Circa Million V 2023 Pro Football Contest Picks

Week 13 is here and hopefully it will be Lucky 13 for the Casino City team has we aim to put up our first 5-0 week of the season. Teams have just over a month to make their playoff push, or for some others, ensure they get a top five pick in next year’s draft. Let’s take a look at who we think is going to be ready to play this weekend.

Detroit -4.5 over New Orleans
We know it doesn’t sound right, but this late in the season, the Detroit Lions are one of the better teams in the NFL. Coach Dan Campbell has his team in a great spot with a two-game division lead.

On Thanksgiving, the Lions did what the Lions usually do on the holiday and that was disappoint. Dropping a game to the Green Bay Packers 29-22 is going to fire Campbell and his squad up to bounce back in New Orleans this Sunday and the Lions have an impressive 4-1 road record thus far.

The Detroit offensive attack is much better than fans have been used to in recent years. Jared Goff has been able to spread it all over the field to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds and rookie standout tight end Sam LaPorta.

Then you have the running back duo or David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery has a touchdown in each of his last three games and the offensive line is making life easy for him. Over the last three games, Montgomery’s yards per carry is 6.7. It is going to be difficult to stop an offense when they are moving the ball so well on the ground to open up a strong passing game as well.

Atlanta -2 over New York Jets
While he isn’t going to be playing this week or probably very soon, it was remarkable to see Aaron Rodgers practicing on the field this week with the Jets despite tearing his Achilles just a few months ago.

I am sure the Jets offensive weapons do wish Rodgers could be on that field since both Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle have been struggling mightily to move the offense and put points up on the board. During their current four-game losing streak, the Jets have failed to reach 14 points in a game, and in two of those losses, New York put up just six points.

In October, the Falcons were looking good at 4-2, but after dropping three out of their last four, they find themselves on the outside looking in at 5-6. During that hot start to the season, Atlanta scored 23 points or more in all four wins.

It is going to come down to if the Jets can match the Falcons score for score and if the last month or so is any proof, they are not capable of doing so.

Indianapolis -1 over Tennessee
When rookie QB Anthony Richardson went down with a season-ending injury for the Colts, not many thought this team would have a chance at a playoff spot. Currently with a 6-5 record, Indy has a chance to pick up a win and really give themselves a good shot at a Wild Card spot.

The big news this week for the Colts is running back Jonathan Taylor getting surgery on his thumb and will be sidelined. However, Zach Moss is more than capable of carrying the workload out of the backfield. In the first four games of the season when Taylor was also unable to play, Moss had 165 yards on the ground in one game and 122 rushing yards in another.

The Colts have won three straight and they have played well on the road, going 4-1 (if you include a win over New England in Germany) and this week they face a Titans team that’s 4-1 at home, so something has to give. The four home wins for the Titans haven’t been that impressive since none of the wins came against opponents currently above .500. The only one above .500 that they have played at home is the Baltimore Ravens, who left Nashville with a 24-16 victory. We expect the Colts to do the same.

Denver +3.5 over Houston
Just over a month ago, the Denver Broncos were pretty much a joke, sitting at 1-5, but they are absolutely rolling right now and head to Houston riding a five-game winning streak.

QB Russell Wilson has done a great job at protecting the football, only tossing four interceptions on the season to his 20 touchdown passes. The 11th-year veteran will square off against rookie sensation C.J. Stroud, who is pretty much a lock for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Coming off a 24-21 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Stroud and the Texans are a little banged up with both Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz questionable, but Dell did return to practice yesterday.

The Broncos defense, which has forced 16 turnovers during the five-game winning streak, is going to throw everything it can at Stroud to make him uncomfortable, just like it did to Patrick Mahomes a month ago when the Chiefs were limited to a season-low nine points in a 15-point Denver win.

Kansas City -5.5 over Green Bay
In his last primetime game, Green Bay QB Jordan Love failed to throw any touchdown passes, but tossed three interceptions in a 17-13 Monday night loss at Las Vegas. If the Packers want to have any shot at this one, Love needs to forget that Monday Night Football matchup and come ready to play.

On the other side, the Chiefs bounced back last week from a loss at home to the Eagles when they beat the Raiders by two touchdowns at home.

Now, Kansas City will travel to the famous Lambeau Field in cold December, but the Chiefs do hold a 4-1 road record this season. If Kansas City wins the turnover battle, this one is over because you can’t give an offense like the Chiefs extra possessions.
