  Casino City's Week 12 NFL Circa Million IV Pro Football Contest Picks25 November 2022
Let’s take a look at our picks for Week 12:
1. Pittsburgh +2.5 over Indianapolis Yes, the Colts have played well under interim head coach Jeff Saturday, winning at Las Vegas and almost upsetting Philadelphia last week. But they may have emptied the tank in that loss to the Eagles after coughing up a 10-point lead heading into the 4th quarter, realizing that their already distant playoff hopes might have gone up in smoke. Now, in comes a Pittsburgh team rejuvenated by the return of T.J. Watt, the best defensive player in football. Going up against a very weak Indy offensive line and immobile QB Matt Ryan, look for Watt and his fellow "Blitz-burgh" pass rushers to cause havoc all night in the Colts' backfield. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has covered 62% of all games in his career when listed as an underdog, and dating back to 2018 he's an even better 66% (23-12-1) when catching points. Take! 2. Chicago +4.5 over New York Jets If you saw the Jets play in their last game in New England, well you didn’t see much and honestly you’re lucky if you missed this game. If you are a fan of punts, this was your Super Bowl. The Pats and Jets were tied at three until the last-minute punt return TD from rookie Marcus Jones of New England to decide the game. The New York offense only posted two yards of offense in the second half. In the postgame, Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson denied that the offense let the defense down. Probably not the best way to make friends with your defense or your head coach, as evidenced by the fact that Wilson is benched for this weekend’s game against the Bears Mike White will be under center for New York, and Joe Flacco will be the backup this weekend. While we’re on the topic of quarterbacks at the podium, Chicago’s Justin Fields apologized to his team for the offense not coming away with a game-winning drive at the end of last week’s 27-24 road loss to Atlanta. Unfortunately for the Bears, their signal caller suffered a separated non-throwing shoulder against the Falcons, but Fields was cleared for practice Wednesday so it appears he’ll be suiting up Sunday. Prior to the injury, Chicago’s offense was looking much more threatening than in the early weeks as Fields continues to improve his command of the passing and scrambling game, which is good because while the Jets’ offense is a mess, it’s defense is for real led by Sauce Gardner.
3. Denver -2.5 over Carolina As much as it makes us cringe to say…Broncos Country, let’s ride, Denver’s defense has continued to be the only bright spot for Mile High fans. The Broncos have only given up 20 total points once in the last five games, and this is the chance for the offense to finally step up and make a few plays. Denver waived running back Melvin Gordon earlier this week due to his incapability to hold onto the football this season. Cutting down on turnovers along with the fact that QB Russell Wilson really spread the ball around last week to a number of receivers will hopefully signal a turning point for the offense At 3-8, the Carolina Panthers seem to be almost packing it in after putting up only three points against the Baltimore Raves last Sunday. It has been a QB carousel this year for them as Baker Mayfield is the latest to be under center and he tossed two interceptions in the last contest. Now, it looks like the team will turn to Sam Darnold to take control of the offense, and history shows that could end poorly. Denver has been in a league-leading nine one-possession games and yet sit with a 3-7 record. Look for the Broncos to get on the right side of that unfortunate stat this week.
4. San Francisco -9.5 over New Orleans As it takes time to put together a puzzle, it also takes time to put together an NFL team. There are many parts that go into building a successful franchise, and it appears the 49ers latest puzzle piece might be exactly what the 49ers were missing to make a significant run literally and figuratively. That missing piece is none other than All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey or CMC as he’s known to the masses. Since San Francisco traded for the former Carolina player following Week 7 of the season, the 49ers have gone 3-1 and now sit atop the NFC West with a 6-4 overall and 4-0 division record. Most teams would love to have just McCaffrey, but San Francisco is blessed on offense to also have signal caller Jimmy Garoppolo, tight end George Kittle, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, Mr. Do-It-All Deebo Samuel, and an innovative head coach in Kyle Shanahan. If that weren’t enough, the 49ers’ offense isn’t even their best side of the ball, as the defense led by Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, and Nick Bosa, ranks near the top in all categories. Where San Francisco ends up in the playoffs remains to be seen, but for this week the Saints aren’t going to be able to solve this puzzle! 5. Seattle -3.5 over Las Vegas While Wilson is struggling to find offensive life in Denver, his former team the Seahawks have had a much better go at it when it comes to putting points up on the board. Seattle is a cool 3-1 at home and will turn to the “12th man” in the stands again to give it an extra boost as it hosts the Las Vegas Raiders who are a brutal 1-5 on the road. The Seahawks are coming off the bye week and have extra rest heading into this week. Meanwhile the Raiders needed every bounce to go their way on Sunday to barely get an OT win against the Broncos.
