Casino City’s Friday Five: Super Bowl props edition

9 February 2024

We are nearing the 48-hour countdown form Super Bowl LVIII’s kickoff at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Fans are making their plans where to watch and, more importantly, who to bet on. Before we get into some bet suggestions for the matchup, we have some other news to dive into. We have a plethora of jackpots out of Nevada, EmuCasino starting 2024 on the right foot, and a Pennsylvania casino finishing a hotel renovation.

We begin this week with a few jackpot winners:

5. $216,000 slots win at Edgewater Casino Resort in Nevada
On Tuesday, a winner visiting from Wisconsin won a massive jackpot of more than $216,000 at Edgewater Casino Resort.

Jeffrery, who was visiting Laughlin from Luxembourg, struck the big payout playing on a 1 cent Lighting Buffalo Link machine, placing a $5 bet and winning $216,040.

4. Arizona Charlie’s awards nearly $2.5 million in January jackpots
Arizona Charlie's Boulder and Arizona Charlie's Decatur, both located in Las Vegas, awarded a total of $2,484,350 in combined jackpots to guests in January, including $2,079,076 from slot jackpots and $405,274 from bingo wins.

One local started their year in a big way after winning $20,275 on Luxury Line on Monday, 8 January at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur. Both properties also saw some big wins early in the year, with one player winning a $15,536 jackpot on Lock It Link at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, and another player winning $14,288 on Jackpot at Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, both on Wednesday, 3 January.

Additional highlights from the month include a local guest at Decatur who won $19,105 on Lightning Link on Wednesday, 10 January, and one player who won $12,530 at Boulder on Monday, 1 January.

3. EmuCasino starts 2024 with big wins and promotions
The online casino is off to a hot start in 2024, including seeing a $3,000 win on the Rockabilly Wolves slot, and is geared up for the Super Bowl Champion's Prize promotion and Valentine's Day promotions.

Super Bowl Champion’s Prize
Players from the U.S. who have made at least one deposit on EmuCasino can fill a survey to guess which of the two Super Bowl finalists will win Sunday; those who guess correctly will be awarded $20 bonus cash while those who guess incorrectly will receive 20 bonus spins.

Valentine’s Day promotions
- Love on the Run Casino Races – Players can participate in the seven daily Valentine's Week casino races which have a total cash prize pool of $3,500 (from 12 to 18 February).
- Eddy's Lucky in Love Draw – Ten randomly selected players who made at least one deposit and completed the Valentine's Day survey will win a Valentine's Day hamper.

2. Mohegan Pennsylvania completes $10 million refresh to hotel
Last year, Mohegan Pennsylvania embarked on a $10 million refresh to its hotel with the aim of refreshing and updating all 238-rooms and suites.

That goal was achieved with the completion of the final stage of this major renovation known as “Project Starlight,” which also saw enhancements across the resort.

This project included a complete renovation to all guests rooms. This meant that new bathrooms, more comfortable beds and upgraded work areas were key areas of improvement. Enhanced Wi-Fi and new smart TVs with bill review and check out accessibility are now featured at the hotel. There are also 20 luxurious suites which offer more space and additional rooms.

1. Top 10 Super Bowl LVIII prop bets
This year, a record 67.8 million American adults are expected to bet on Super Bowl LVIII, a 35% increase from 2023, according to an American Gaming Association survey.

With $23.1 billion also expected to be wagered by those American adults, up 16 billion from a year ago, we have some prop bets for those fans and gamblers to consider before hitting “Place Bet”.

Race to 10
In their two playoff games this year against the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, the Niners have been held scoreless in the first quarter in both games, including trailing 24-7 at halftime in the NFC title game.

The 49ers have found themselves fortunate enough to escape both of those poor starts and turn them into victories. However, that had to be a major point of emphasis in the practices leading up to this week.

Getting off to a better start is a must. You don’t want to see another zero on the board when the first 15 minutes of action come to a close.

Don’t be surprised if QB Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and company come out firing to make a statement early and jumping out to a lead in the opening quarter. It also helps when you have the Offensive Player of the Year on your team in McCaffrey.

Under 23 points in the second half
Despite having the best quarterback on the planet, Kansas City has been very good to under bettors this season, going under the total in 14 out of 20 games. They have been an even stronger under team in the second halves of games, going under in 18 out of 20 games after halftime.

That trend is simply too strong to ignore, especially since both teams prefer to run the ball. If either team gets the lead in the second half, they will try to take the air out of the ball and depend on the running game to drain the clock, so let's call for another low-scoring second half for the Chiefs.

Purdy to throw an interception
In the NFC Championship Game, San Francisco got off to a brutal start in the first half which included an interception thrown by Purdy. That all quickly changed when the 49ers came out in the second half and won the third quarter 17-0, leading to the comeback victory.

Over his last eight games, Purdy has tossed a pick in four of those games. In two out of the three playoff games for the Chiefs, the Kansas City defense has forced an interception.

The goal will be to make Purdy uncomfortable early on just like the Detroit Lions did a week ago in the first half. Get pressure on the QB and have him force a couple of throws that could end up going the other way for the Chiefs.
