Casino City’s Friday Five: Revenue records and openings edition

As U.S. commercial gaming revenues continue to rise, iGaming in Michigan set a record last month, In addition, a Caesars Palace guest won over $700,000 from a poker jackpot and the Las Vegas Strip casino opened a new high-limit slots area. Finally, Fanatics Sportsbook opened a new location in Connecticut.

Let’s begin with a jackpot:

5. Caesars Palace awards massive six-figure poker jackpot
On 13 November, a Caesars Rewards member got lucky when he hit the Mega Progressive jackpot for $763,688 playing Ultimate Texas Hold'em at Caesars Palace.

Donald was visiting from Toronto, Canada, with his family. After the initial shock of winning, the guest stated he hopes to travel the world with the wins and credited his family as a good luck charm.

4. New high-limit slots area opens at Caesars Palace
Just three days later, Caesars Entertainment commemorated the opening of Palace Court Slots, the new high-limit slot area, at Caesars Palace.

VIP casino guests were among the first to play in the new and exclusive slot experience and were treated to signature dishes from Restaurant Guy Savoy.

The high-limit slot renovation is part of a multi-phase project to enhance Caesars Palace's gaming options.

3. New Fanatics Sportsbook opens in Norwalk
The Connecticut Lottery Corporation, in partnership with Fanatics Sportsbook and Sportech Inc., opened a new retail sportsbook location on Tuesday at Sportech’s Winners Norwalk location. Fanatics Sportsbook serves as the CLC’s exclusive sports betting partner for mobile and retail.

Sports fans can visit the Winners Norwalk location at 24 Burnell Boulevard to place their bets ahead of the highly anticipated Grand Opening on Sunday.

The new location features betting windows, eight self-service betting kiosks, and high-definition TVs situated throughout. The Fanatics Sportsbook at Winners Norwalk will offer betting markets for all major professional and college sports.

2. October iGaming in Michigan sets record
Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a combined $253.7 million total internet gaming gross receipts and gross sports betting receipts in October. Gross receipts decreased 2.8% compared to last month.

However, October iGaming gross receipts totaled $220.7 million, the highest to date. The previous high was $215.2 million recorded in March 2024.

October gross sports betting receipts totaled $33.0 million. In September, iGaming gross receipts were $202.6 million and gross sports betting receipts were $58.4 million.

1. US commercial gaming records best Q3 in history
U.S. commercial gaming revenue reached $17.71 billion in Q3 2024, the industry’s highest-grossing Q3 on record, according to the American Gaming Association’s Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker.

This makes Q3 2024 the industry’s 15th consecutive quarter of annual revenue growth, with September marking the 43rd straight month of rising year-over-year commercial gaming revenue.

Through the first nine months of the year, nationwide commercial gaming revenue stands at $53.24 billion, pacing 8% ahead of 2023 and putting the industry on track for a fourth straight record revenue year.
