Casino City’s Friday Five: Jackpots, lawsuits and openings edition

1 May 2026

Earlier this week, Resorts World New York City debuted its new live table floor, and that wasn’t the only opening this week as Happy Valley Casino in Pennsylvania opened its doors. In addition, we have a six-figure slot jackpot from Florida, a massive video poker win in Atlantic City, and the Dutch Gaming Authority cracking down on a bet offering.

Let’s start with some major wins:

5. Six-figure video poker win at Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City
Earlier this week, a Wayne, New Jersey man won a $100,000 jackpot at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Atlantic City with a spin that produced a royal flush in hearts on a Double Double Bonus Poker Game King machine.

The lucky guest bet $125 to score the winning jackpot spin and chose to remain anonymous.

4. Seminole Classic Casino awards $100k slot jackpot
A guest won a $107,015 jackpot on 25 April, at Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, Florida, while playing a Royal Reels slot machine.

The Unity member wagered $25 on a $5 denomination to land the 5 Kings winning combination. The progressive has since reset to $20,000.

3. Ksa calls out Holland Casino and Vbet
The Dutch Gaming Authority addressed Holland Casino Online and Vbet regarding the offering of bets on own goals. Such bets are not permitted, as own goals are considered a negative event with an increased risk of match-fixing.

The Ksa conducted an investigation into the offering of bets on own goals. This revealed that Holland Casino Online and Vbet were the only gambling providers in the market that frequently offered this type of bet.

Both Holland Casino Online and Vbet adjusted their offerings and removed own-goal bets. They have also taken additional control measures to prevent recurrence.

2. Happy Valley Casino is now open
Happy Valley Casino opened earlier this week, welcoming guests to experience gaming, dining and entertainment in State College, Pennsylvania, the home of Penn State University.

The new casino features 600 slot machines and 30 live table games. Just steps from the gaming floor, guests can enjoy two dining experiences. Aces Social delivers upscale pub fare, complete with large-screen TVs for sports fans, while Lucky Break Café offers fast-casual convenience with a variety of grab-and-go and handheld options.

At the heart of the action, the Center Bar serves a full selection of craft beer, wine and top-shelf spirits.

1. Resorts World Casino New York City opens live table games floor
On Wednesday, Resorts World New York City opened its 242 live table games floor in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and ceremonial first roll of the dice hosted by Genting Chairman KT Lim. Another floor with 2,507 commercial casino slots, some with million dollar plus jackpots also opened at the same time.

More than 240 table games including blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette were debuted on a newly reimagined gaming floor alongside more than 2,500 new commercial slot machines placed on the second and third floor of the existing Aqueduct Facility. The number of tables and commercial slot machines will double with the progressive opening of the ground and first gaming floors later in the year. The combination of live games and slot machines has created the first full casino experience in New York City.
