Casino City’s Friday Five: Jackpots and strike edition

A Florida casino had guests hitting big over three days, as four winners claimed jackpots. In addition, we saw two massive paydays from The STRAT in Las Vegas, Ohio sending out cease-and-desist letters to sports betting companies, new hotel rooms coming to a Biloxi resort, and a Caesars property in Indiana has its employees authorize a strike.

5. Two jackpot wins at The STRAT Hotel Casino and SkyPod
Two fortunate players had an evening to remember at The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod in Las Vegas, each scoring jackpots while trying their luck at the tables on 27 March.

A visitor from California struck it big while playing 21+3 Progressive Blackjack, earning $117,769. His jackpot came from a winning hand of three aces of spades.

Also that night, a guest from Florida turned a $5 progressive bet into a $26,012 win after landing a royal flush while playing Heads-Up Hold'em.

4. Four guests win big in three days at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee
Four lucky players at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee in Florida won a total of more than $500,000 over just three days.

From Friday, 21 March through Monday, 24 March, four players hit the following jackpots:

- On Friday, Mary won $121,470 with a $3 bet on an Ultimate Screaming Link slot machine.
- On Sunday, player 2 took home $130,759 with a $8.80 bet on a Dancing Drums slot machine.
- On Monday, player 3 won $150,700 on a Lock It Link Nightlife slot and player 4 hit a $130,531 jackpot with a $50 bet on a Buffalo Link slot.

3. Three cease-and-desist letters sent out in Ohio
The Ohio Casino Control Commission issued cease-and-desist notices to Kalshi, Robinhood, and Crypto.com, three companies offering event contracts on sporting events to Ohioans.

The Commission determined the event contracts offered by the companies on sporting events meet the definition of sports gaming under the law, which requires licensure to be legally offered in Ohio.

The cease-and-desist notices demand that the three companies stop offering, participating in offering, or facilitating those who offer sports event contracts in the state. Each company must notify the OCCC in writing of compliance with the notice no later than 14 April 2025.

2. Workers at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino authorize strike
More than 140 workers at Caesars Southern Indiana Hotel & Casino have voted by a 98% margin to authorize a strike. The vote is a direct response to management's refusal to offer a fair contract.

Caesars Southern Indiana pulled in more than $240 million in revenue last year, making it one of the most profitable casinos in the state. Workers are demanding a contract that reflects their essential contributions to that success.

"Our members are united and ready to fight for the strongest possible agreement," said Avral Thompson, President of Local 89. "This vote sends a clear message — we will not back down. If management won't negotiate in good faith, we're prepared to take action."

1. Enhanced hotel rooms coming to IP Casino Resort Spa
IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi announced it began a complete renovation of all 963 standard hotel rooms at the property, set for completion in early 2026.

Each 330-square-foot room is curated with custom artwork and pale wood furnishings with stone tops. The bathrooms offer spacious showers, granite-topped vanities and illuminated mirrors.

These renovations mark the next phase of IP’s ongoing hotel transformation, building on last year’s suite updates that introduced upgrades to the property’s penthouse rooms and suites.
