Casino City’s Friday Five: Atlantic City grand opening edition

29 June 2018

We had a pretty major week of stories and events taking place. The World Cup wrapped up the group stage with the shocking fact that Germany will not be moving forward to the knockout stage. The World Series of Poker had some more events come to a close this week, which we will touch on, but we focused on some other areas. There were new slot games that came out and jackpot winners left and right, but no story was bigger than two Atlantic City casinos celebrating their grand opening on Thursday. Let’s start with Videoslots revealing several new slots. 5. Videoslots unveils new games The online casino revealed six new games this week for players to enjoy. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Fortunium, Zombie Rush, Snow Queen Riches, Out of This World and Lucky Gems were all launched. All of the games are slots, but Lucky Gems is actually a pinball machine where you are aiming to land the ball into certain holes for prizes. 4. $3.2 million jackpot at Silverton Casino Earlier this month, the Silverton Casino Lodge Las Vegas paid out the largest jackpot in its history at $3,225,340. An anonymous slot player won the life-changing fortune by playing the Wheel of Fortune Winning Wedges video slot. The $5 wager on the International Game Technology slot was the largest payout of the calendar year to this point. 3. Klein wins third WSOP bracelet in three years Loren Klein made history on Tuesday by becoming the third player in WSOP history to win a bracelet in three straight years in the post-Moneymaker era. Not only that, but Klein won the biggest $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship in WSOP history as well. He took home $1,018,336 after winning the event, which began with 476 entries. The professional poker player from Reno has now pushed his career WSOP earnings just under $2.5 million. 2. Four millionaires made at PokerStars and Full Tilt Four lucky players are celebrating this week after each secured million-dollar payouts from the online casinos, which ended up totaling more than $5.4 million. ‘[AG]_Rocky’ became the first player to win $1 million on a $5 buy-in Spin & Goal at PokerStars. The player was followed by ‘BRAER_71RUS’, who won $1,425,373.02 at Full Tilt, making this the first million-dollar casino jackpot to hit at the site. Then ‘lohengramm’ got an “unexpected surprise” worth $1,679,871.30 when Stars Mega Spin hit the jackpot. Finally, ‘BETHGE68’ from Germany became the fourth millionaire made in 10 days with a windfall of $1,357,835.04 from PokerStars Casino’s Millionaires Island. 1. Atlantic City casino grand reopenings ignite new sense of optimism Casino City was on the scene to witness two casinos hold grand openings Thursday in Atlantic City. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Atlantic City celebrated its grand opening Thursday as part of an eventful day for the state of New Jersey. This was the first of two extravagant properties to open in a span of just 13 hours. The Hard Rock had a fireworks show later in the evening to cap off the incredible day in Atlantic City. On top of that, we no longer have to wait for the Ocean Resort Casino. The Atlantic City casino held its grand opening Thursday. Our own Gary Trask was in attendance for the momentous occasion to see Mark Wahlberg at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 1,399-room Ocean Resort Casino is located directly on the Atlantic City Boardwalk and is opening at a perfect time with the warm weather upon us. Do not miss out on experiencing the 138,000-square-foot casino floor with over 100 table games. Let’s not forget about the 7,500-square-foot sportsbook and bar operated in partnership with William Hill now that sports betting has become legal in the state of New Jersey.
