PR Newswire Launches New Clipping Service To Track Online Publications8 October 1999
PR Newswire monitors more than 1,200 eZines worldwide with additional publications being added continuously. The company has contacted verifiable online publications, such as ABCNews and Australian Financial Review, inviting them onto the list. PR Newswire Public Relations Manager Renu Aldrich says the company saw a need to provide a "clipping service" for online publications that no one else was offering. She added that PR Newswire has already been inundated with calls for the service. Aldrich explained, "We have had thousands of inquiries and people are signing up!" The service costs $3600 annually. Users provide a list of keywords for searches. The service then uses a spider search engine to find articles among the e-Zines using the keywords and e-mails copies daily to the user. Why would you want this service? According to a company press release, "The number of publications on the Web is increasing daily, and those sites are updated much more often than their print or broadcast counterparts. A recent Columbia Journalism School survey revealed that 50 percent of print newspapers and magazines have online editions, a number that is expected to reach 70 percent by 2001. Most of these web publications contain original content not appearing in print, with more than one-fifth reporting that as much as half of their content is original." For more information, call PR Newswire at 888-776-0942. Then maybe your nose will quit itching!
