By Tim Richardson, Las Vegas Sun LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The number of passengers at McCarran International Airport in October dropped 12.8 percent compared to last year. The Clark County Department of Aviation said 3,560,497 passengers arrived or departed from the airport in October, which is down from 4,080,910 passengers in October 2007. Through the first 10 months of the year, the airport reported 37,677,409 passengers, which is down 6.4 percent from last year's 40,252,243 passengers through October. Southwest Airlines, the busiest carrier at McCarran, saw a 5.5 percent decline in passengers in October, from 1,357,146 in October 2007 to 1,283,041 this year. Rounding out the five busiest carriers, U.S. Airways (down 29.9 percent), United (down 5 percent), Delta (down 7 percent) and Continental (down 4 percent) also saw year-over-year declines.
