I-Casino Spam Hits Netherlands8 May 2007
The OPTA, the Netherlands-based communications watchdog, has over the last two weeks received an influx of casino spam-related complaints.
The e-mail spam contained sloppy, Dutch-language advertisements for Royal VIP casino, Vegas VIP casino and Royal Club casino, with links to sites where e-mail users could download I-gaming software. ... (read more)
New Tax Plan Could End German Betting Monopolies25 April 2007
Financial specialists among the German CDU/CSU Party have hatched a plan to quadruple the country's sports betting income by levying a tax on sports betting.
The proposal is for a 12 to 15 percent tax on turnover, and Mike Mohring, the relating financial policy speaker of the CDU fraction in the state of Thuringia, says it would raise around 100 million euros per year. ... (read more)

Denied -- GmbH & Co. Spielbankenbetriebs KG i. Gr. (GmbH), the privately operated German casino, was unsuccessful in its attempt to obtain a casino license in Bavaria. British gambling company William Hill is going after the Greek betting market.
The group commenced efforts last week to obtain a license for sports betting in Greece, although Hellenic betting monopolist OPAP S.A. says it will not happen.
