WSOP inaugural Millionaire Maker tournament attracts record number of entrants

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- To kick off opening weekend at the 2013 World Series of Poker in grand style, Event #6 ($1,500 No-Limit Hold'em) started on Saturday, June 1st with a one-day start, two-flight No-Limit Hold'em event, where the winner will receive $1.19 million! The tournament will last one day longer than planned due to the enormous turnout of potential new millionaires in this popular new event.

There were 6,344 entries, breaking the previous record for a one-day start poker tournament by a whopping 53 percent and earning a place in history as the eighth-largest poker tournament ever held.

To date, the World Series of Poker has created a staggering 257 millionaires and multimillionaires, with one more soon to come.

Final play will end Tuesday, June 4th late at night with the official gold bracelet and award ceremony to be held Wednesday, June 5th at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the Brasila Room of Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
